| reply to vanf Re: slow speeds in glendale hts, IL
Not many ISPs ever think to suggest the RWIN value, mainly due to the fact that 99% of the customers out there have no idea what they are talking about. It makes support for that kind of thing very hard.
I also would suggest to you, if you are running a XP box to up your RWIN higher. I have mine set to the default of 64240 and always hit the speeds I should. But if you would rather leave it alone since it seems to be working fine for you then that is fine. |

| reply to nickz thanks for the big help guys!
Speeds are right on track after increasing RWIN to 30500 and speeds are over 2k now
Also tried downloading a file from microsoft's website. Yesterday it was about 50KB/s today it's at 280KB/s
What's somewhat troubling is that I doubt this would have been resolved had I tried calling wow support. Maybe they have the resources/knowledge to test this but from other ISP experiences I'd think not. |

| reply to vanf First off, re-do the tweak test and enter 2000 (not 2) in the advertised speed box. Then it can make the proper recommendations for your settings. I agree with Inflex . Your RWIN is way too low. |

Head over to the tweaks forum and grab drtcp. Set it for 64k. |

| Hi,
I just got wow service 2.0mbps installed on saturday however, since then my speeds have usually been under 1.0 mbps. Running the 4 speed tests above I get:
1066 kbps, 1934 kbps, 895 kbps, 937 kbps
It's very inconsistent and download speeds overall usually don't exceed 50 KB/s. However, there were a couple websites like www.apple.com I achieved about 170 KB/s (downloading itunes). Should I ask them about it or is this normal? or any other suggestions?
thanks, van |
