Road Runner -- Toshiba PCX2500 Modem Owners Only

Over the past couple of days, there have been a number of reports about the Toshiba PCX2500 Diagnostic Page being disabled at »192.168.100.1 on the Road Runner Network.

I'm conducting a survey on who's PCX2500 Diag Page is working properly and one's that are currently disabled.

Please post your RR Franchise and whether your diag page is disabled or not on the PCX2500 ONLY.

Thanks!

Uh McFly, we are not talking about the Motorola Surfboard
CM. We are talking about the Toshiba PCX2500. Besides that
there is NOTHING on there that you could use to uncap your modem.

Capping is controlled by your cable modem and a configuration file. The imposed download and upload speed limit settings are in this file and downloaded from your provider every time you boot. Before thinking that you can uncap your modem to remove these limits, consider that it is not only illegal to do so, but very difficult and complex. Actually, at the present time, there really is no known and proven easy method available that can remove these caps on today's modern modems. A few earlier modems were easier to uncap because they could bypass the configuration settings by avoiding the headend or CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) which checks the config file, but most modems today are DOCSIS, (Data Over Cable Service Interface—a modem standard). These modems cannot be uncapped. The headend checks and downloads the file at bootup and the modem authenticates the settings with the CMTS. Even if you managed to make an uncapping change, on reboot (which you would have to do to make the change take effect) your modem would be reset by downloading the settings imposed by your provider.

This has nothing to do with the issue at hand. There is NOTHING on that dignostic webpage that you could remotely
use to uncap your modem. Your talking about the modem config file which we normally cannot see.

Correct, SNMP is already disabled on RR with the config file downloaded from the CMTS.

I have Brighthouse Networks (previously road runner) here in the Detroit area, and my diagnostics page just recently stopped working (within the past few weeks).
