| Very Interesting
Strange because just yesterday I was reading an article about Online DVD Download companies and the thought came to me if Netflix would ever switch to that model.
The answer is definitely yes. But the success of something like the greatly depends on the MPAA and individual ISPs.
I love Netflix and am a big supporter. But as the previous poster said, it may be a while before they can implement this. |

| It won't be long before the pirates find a way to crack whatever encoding the Netflix people use, then start redistributing the films accross the typical networks. What will be interesting is to see if the MPAA will cooperate with such a plan, there is considerable risk involved from their viewpoint. I'd be very supprised if they supported such a move. -- The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. --- Edmund Burke Kill your TV, then Internet Explorer: »www.mozilla.org |

| Yes, but they will have a much better selection to chose from now compared to most local rental stores that only have the latest releases on DVD's, or at least this is the case in my area. -- The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. --- Edmund Burke Kill your TV, then Internet Explorer: »www.mozilla.org |

| reply to TheSaint I'm currently a Netflix customer. I can have 8 DVD's out at a time, which generally gives me about 40 DVD's a month (with mail time). This service costs $40 a month ($1 per DVD).
I'm building my library now, copying every movie I rent to DVDR. After 3-4 months, my old movie collection should be complete, and I'll switch to the cheaper, $20 a month service.
While I don't make them available on P2P, I do make them available to friends on my private FTP site. I'm afraid I don't see the difference between someone renting the movie from netflix and ripping it, or downloading it from netflix and ripping it. |

| What you say makes perfect sense. But im guessing the MPAA is already working on a solution.
What you're doing now is not that much of a threat. The biggest threat to their profits comes from easy online access worldwide.
Then again, my assumption can be wrong. |
