I've been using raspppoe for about 3 years now without any problems up until two weeks ago.
Say i'm using an external program (ie. an ftp/irc) and browsing web pages at the same time. My connection will sort of just die but it'll still be connected. By still connected, i mean data can still be transmitted through the external programs without a problem but i get the dreaded "res://C:\Windows\System\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm" when browsing web pages. Once i disconnect and reconnect my connection, the problem is fixed.
It's strange though. Today for instance, i was unable to access any web pages once again but the second i exited out of the external programs i had running, i was able to access web pages again. Other times, i'll just get buffer errors in the external programs upon getting disconnected from the servers on there (this is while it's happening with the web pages as well). It happens randomly too. Sometimes after a few hours, sometimes after a day or two.
I've been unable to come up with a solution to this so far and i'm beginning to get a pounding headache from it. :P Any help or advice would be very, very appreciated.
Btw i have a P2 350MHZ w/256MB RAM.
Running 98SE and IE5.
ISP = Verizon
"Never dial a connection" is off.
Mtu is set at 1492.
And IP's set at 192.168.0.1 w/ 255.255.255.0 subnet mask.
