whfsdudePremium join:2003-04-05 Washington, DC | I put my dot mac money into hosting. Costs me $20 more a year and I love it.
Until .Mac has more features, I won't be going back |

 | Personally I like it. I will get it again next New Years when my service runs out. Sign up for a trial account at [url]www.mac.com][url]. -- My Website - »homepage.mac.com/cparna/ - PowerBook G4 15" SuperDrive, 1 Gig of Ram, 80 Gig HD |

ThinkdiffPremium,MVM join:2001-08-07 Bronx, NY kudos:6 | reply to Badger3k I don't think i'm gonna re-new my account next year. I use Gallery on my personal server, and I might get a web host soon for much less money than .Mac. I'll probably only keep my e-mail address for 15 dollars or whatever it is on my brother's account. |

Depends on the features used....if you use the Virex DL, that drops the price to about $60 for the first year. If you only want mail...there are free alternatives... If you want a seamless iApp integrated, near hassle free environment, it can't be matched....not for the price IMHO. I have reup'd my account, my wifes and my parents.
My wife can set up individual password protected pages for her students parents to access....easily.
There have been many a discussion on this subject. Search the ATM forum for more opinions....it gets asked about once a month so there are many threads to read through the differing opinions. Every mag I've read about .Mac gives their seal of approval but only if you use most or all of the available options. -- Is this real or a fake? |

 | I will post it here. This I know is just me. I put a password on my site/stuff hosted and it requested the right password for my Mac/Safari while my Win box using Firefox did not require a pass. I could just type anything in and hit enter. I thought it was messed. -- My Website - »homepage.mac.com/cparna/ - PowerBook G4 15" SuperDrive, 1 Gig of Ram, 80 Gig HD |

Badger3kWe Don't Need No Stinkin BadgersPremium join:2001-09-27 Franklin, OH | reply to Badger3k I'm currently signed up for the free trial, but not everything is available for me to try. ie the software downloads. I guess I should have asked does .Mac offer enough software in general to make it worth paying $99/year versus paying individually for the software. -- Team Discovery: Project Hope | ET is out there, can you find him? |

The other thing that makes .Mac wonderful is if you happen to use multiple Macs. The ability to sync Safari bookmarks and Address Book contacts with one button is very handy. But if you're only working on one Mac, it's probably not that important a feature. |

THAT.....is what makes it worth $200 to me..... -- Is this real or a fake? |

tky join:2001-05-16 Carol Stream, IL | Given that it's entirely possible to replicate 90% of what iDisk is with WebDAV, are there any hacks, apps, or other solutions to publishing iCal calendars to HTML format, or keeping Safari bookmarks in sync?
For contacts in the address book, I use Address-o-Sync to keep my laptop synced up with my desktop, but there's nothing I've found for keeping bookmarks in sync and I'd *really* like that (but I'm not fond of spending more money on .Mac service; buying the hardware costs enough ) |
