| AOL HElp Please!
Hello. I am on AOL for broadband with a cable modem and it is through Time Warner Cable. I need to share my connection over a LAN my computer directly connected to the other with Ethernet. How would I do this? How could I get on AOL without using the client, I have tried creating a conection in network propertys butr it never connects through the PPoE or whateever it is called. ANyhelp is appreciated. Thanks. |

| Not sure how well a router set up will work with an AOL hookup, but if that won't work, you could look into Internet Connection Sharing through Windows. What version of Windows are you running.

| reply to Ineedhelp1 The thing is I just want to use a ethernet cable and hook it into the back of both computersd teh lan is working we can view and share other things, but since aol connection is thru client and not thru the netowrking then u cant select it to share, i selected the connection with my modem. It didnt share though....what software could acheive this ? Please Help. |

1 edit | Call your local cable office, tell them you would like to switch over to Road Runner High Speed Online from AOL Cable. They will ask you for your MAC address on your cable modem and switch you right away.
This will give you DHCP which will let you do what you are describing. AOL Cable doesn't support DHCP, and therefore, you are running into these problems.
After you are switched over to RR, which will only take a minute, once you call, then switch AOL over to BYOA (aol keyword: billing), bring your own access, and all will work nicely.  -- John F. Kerry for President! |
