Don't settle for...

...PPOE. Only settle for a fixed IP address, no matter what it takes. PPOE sucks and if the DHCP server is having problems, you are dead.

Re: Don't settle for...

I am still in Flashcom hell. However, due to the fact that they will be out of business and THEN I can switch to a new DSL ISP, I'm sticking with their *%^@ty connection so that I don't get socked with a $300 cancellation fee. Of course, I don't understand how they can charge me this if they are bankrupt, but I'm not worried about it. I have fought with those losers for too long, I hate the company, their inability to let any customers know that they are going bankrupt, etc. Recently, since about early December, I have had extremely sketchy service. No one is available to talk to, no tech support, slow connections, getting bumped off in the middle of playing online games, etc, this is just ridiculous. I am restraining myself quite a bit. One person I did actually get ahold of told me to deal with it because there "...isn't a damn thing I'm willing to do to help you out. I'm here until they officially shut down...". To me that means that he's getting a big payoff from the bankruptcy settlement. Now I'm worried about going to another DSL ISP in the fear that they too will turn into a shit-for-brains company...Does anyone have a non-horror story of DSL service in the Philadelphia suburb area?

I've had Flashcom for nearly 2 years. The first 6 months or so, it sucked ass and after much time bitching at their tech support as well as GTE's (who actually owns the equipment) and installing a new DS3, it has worked flawlessly for the last 18 months. The real kick in the ass is that I was credited for that first 6 months and have been billed once since. My credit card has never been automatically charged. Could this be why their in chapter 11 now????
