| heya, neighbor !
I'm in Irwin, the next town over. I ordered Verizon DSL about a month ago--my SRD is 3/12/01... which is this coming Monday. I've checked my modem every night for the past few weeks to see if I was lucky enough to get an early connection. Ever since reading these forums, however, I don't feel as hopeful when I try. We'll see how it goes... ! Hope I get as good a service as you do in G'burg... | |

Hi back at Ya`, Kicker ! I remember my service was actually ready quite a bit in advance of the date they first gave me. At any rate, The 12th is right around the corner,so the wait is almost over As to the quality of service,it seems there have been very few problems in our area with verizon,so there is No need to worry about that. Happy surfing !

| VerizOFF I have been patient with Verizon since 1/25/02, but am about to cancel. Service works well when it is working, but that is rarely during "prime time", when it won't connect to sites at all. (I am here on my dial up, because, as usual, Verizon has become VerizOFF! | |

| Anyone using Verizon Express Network in Telford? Hello, I just bought a Sierra Air Card with the Verizon Express Network service. It works well in the Philly area. Has anyone used it in Telford - I am hoping it will work there too. Please let me know. Thank you, | |

| On the Fence I have had Verizon ADSL service since 6/03 and it has been a trying experience since the original service start. When my original application was processed by Verizon, I was qualified for the 1500/128 service. After the installation and service was activated, I had serious problems with connectivity, slow download speed and total loss of service. I made numerous calls to the Tech support line and the best recommendation was typically to unplug the Westell Dual Connect modem power source, which is connected via an internal Ethernet card, shut down my computer, wait 15 seconds, re-power the modem and reboot the computer. This scenario replayed for many weeks to the point where I called to cancel the service. I then received a phone call from VADI, a higher support level, and was informed a service tech would come to my home and install a dedicated line (home run) from my Telephone Interface to bypass my 50 year old phone wiring and do an on location test of the system loop back to the CO. At this time, due to increased line strength, I was also able to run my phone line connection through my UPS line surge protector as recommended by electrical code. My service greatly improved after this field service visit but with one surprise. My service had been changed to 768/128 by Verizon sales, whom I soon learned after being given the run around between the tech and sales department made the switch without informing me. I tried unsuccessfully to have them reinstate my 1500/128 service but they now inform me that I am outside of the 12,000 foot service loop. The ADSL service performed flawlessly for several months but now I am again experiencing major problems with connectivity, slow download speeds and I have been forced to bypass my UPS phone line surge protector to make a successful connection when the service refuses to connect. I have made many tech service calls for the past four weeks and have been promised a home technician to trouble shoot my connectivity issues. These issues are sporadic in nature as they may last for hours or days, night time, daytime, good weather and bad. The $30.00 a month service cost is a bargain in comparison to the dial-up modem service I previously relied on but my friends and neighbors whom have Comcast Cable for $50.00 a month do not have all the associated problems that I have encountered, plus they have connection speeds of 1,700,000 with 3,000,000 to come, at the end of this year. I am not in need of the download speeds that cable provides, as my only large downloads are Microsoft patches and updates which Verizon provides when working, but on two recent occasions I have been unable to successfully perform the downloads due to connectivity issues. If or when support is able to provide me with a reliable connection is a question that will be the deciding factor in my loyalty to their service. The quick decision would be cable. I am on the fence. | |
