STATIC IP :

I went on a Qwest for a static IP.......and found that the Intel NIC they sold me was not going to support any type of networking anyway and I would need an external DSL modem/router. I found that Qwest will only support Cisco products sold by them to the customer. I can do the same job with another product much cheaper than the special they run at 195.......
ok it gets much worst. I have it posted somewhere else,

Question is How is it that you can just grab a static IP ???

THEY WANT TO LEASE ME A STACK OF THEM.

Service can sometimes be good...

but the billing problems never end! Here in Phoenix we have had to resort to TV channel 12's Action line to get anything resolved. You can call and complain to Qwest month after month about overcharges but it will never get resolved that way!

Re: Service can sometimes be good...

I got my first bill, and [drum roll] it's correct. It's bigger than usual because

•It's for more than one month
•Their special offers (free TV installation, etc.) are rebates that come later

Re: Service can sometimes be good...

Just to update, I did get my rebate check on Monday.

One but I encountered, though it's not part of the internet service. The NextLevel box seems to have been really confused by Arizona not going off daylight savings time at the end of October (AZ doesn't do DST). All my autotunes for the TV were off by an hour. What's worse, the Mon-Fri ones can't be deleted as it thinks they aren't set. I'll have to call support on that.

I like It

I've had the VDSL since May, 2000.

I LOVE IT! Haven't had an outage since August, 2000.

Very reliable and decent speeds. Regularly see 800k up and down. Sometimes a lot more if im downloading multiple files on irc.

Install sucked big time, but was still completed within 30 days from order. Very bizarre and poor coordination. Took days off work........yadyadayada.

Billing did credit me half month service because of this and I didn't even request it!

Over all I am very, very pleased to have a reliable broadband connection (and not paying for a T), but I also understand I am only one client of Qwest in the very CRAZY world of DSL/Broadband.

Re: Cable??

Eh? Yes, Qwest operates their own "cable" TV service over VDSL. It has nothing to do with Cox's phone service.
