Well there are a few things that I wanted to address,
1st) was the Netscape email program 4.75, there is a problem with that version for the Macintosh. Netscape knows of this problem and will deal with it in thier own time since Macintosh is no their priority. Broadslate has nothing to do with that problem, nor could they.
2nd) Yes I have Broadslate and am having Problems with their speeds, but have found out that it is my Local Telco Cincinnati Bell (Cincinnati Hell), They provisioned my line with a bad connection and the line is bad too, I lose connection every time I try to upload. I am supposed to have 2380/2380 services but am down at 1558/1558 and only get 984-1123 download and am lucky if my upload evens uploads at all.
Beings, that I am a Systems Eng. I have checked and rechecked over my Server Configuration and I am good to go.
Ok and last, Yes the 30day money back is the best thing in the whole deal. And so are their hold times since I have never been on hold for more then 5 minuets. Unlike other DSL Companies.
They are aware of this problem also.
Well god luck on your DSL line,

| Re: Broadslate Actually, Netscape has nothing to do with the problem and Broadslate appears to have everything to do with it. Here's what I've learned after troubleshooting this on my own (which I had to do as Broadslate did NOT set up their one Mac to run tests to replicate my problem as they'd promised to do)....when you log-in to the virtual access (which is through Broadslate) for e-mail, the first log-in there requires you to enter the e-mail address and also the password. When you do Pop e-mail access from e-mail (through Netscape), you are accessing that same Broadslate virtual page, which is why it requires the password. I found this by using three separate machines, running 4.75, 4.76, and 4.77 and discovered that I'll have to reenter the password anytime after I first try to send e-mail after launching Netscape.
As for the speed...well, today was a full week since they opened two separate trouble tickets. No contact, no status from them during the past week. I called, and because someone had apparently decided to list my problems as "resolved" (even though the tickets weren't closed) I had to walk someone through all of my problems from ground zero.
So far I've run multiple line tests, with no problems found, and that's the same that Broadslate has seen. As of this afternoon they were scratching their heads wondering what to do next, with average speed still at less than 60% of promised speed. I also found it interesting that I was told by one of their techs that they would consider 70% of promised to be acceptable (the DSLR FAQ indicates that 80% is more acceptable).
As for the problem related to the NAT and the usage of non-public IPs...the trouble report to address getting me public IPs got dropped totally. The tech I talked with today picked that one up again also, and on a positive note, I'm supposed to be getting those soon.
I'll agree that you don't wait long on hold for tech support...but from what I've seen they just don't do a good job with following up anything generated during the calls.

Do you have IPX running or have you turned IPX off? The reason I ask this is because I had BlueStar and was running IPX. For some reason HighSpeed and IPX do not configure correctly. I switched to Broadslate and they suggested I turn my IPX off and run straight IP. I did and I am going just fine.
Just an idea. | |

| Re: Broadslate IPX I'm guessing must be something you turn-off/on with Windows machines? I've never heard of IPX related to Macintosh IPs or TCP/IP, and at least it's definitely not one of the configuration methodologies available on a Macintosh.
But thanks for the suggestion.

| Ah Yes Well Thanks for the Tip and help on The Netscape Issue, Sorry i didn't respond longer, well on a positive note i am finnaly up and running at 1.1/1.1 and am stable with no problems at all. they replaced a V-card and for some strange reason i was provisioned back to a better line (cinn Hell).
i will say through all this time since day one i was not charged a dime for service. Unlike DSLI.com where i have a seperate line sharring line and have had problems with them and Rythmes since day one also, and till this day they would only credit me 2 months , so i told them to forget it, and will be shipping back their equiptment to themn soon, plus they broke their own contract.
so i will stick with broadslate and hopefully if they offer a linesharring option down the road i will gladly jump on the offer. since i need a seperate connection for my other systems.
Thanks Again,

ow , PS. Don't mind my spelling i am typeing faster then i can think, hahahahah'
| | | Anon | Have you tried the tweak under tools? Windows is not configured for High speed. I too had trouble with the speed until I did the tweak tool under DSL reports. I ordered a 1.5 from Broadslate in Greenville and before "tweaking" I have a 980 connection. After tweaking, I have a 1.48. I have been told that windows is not configured for high speed and that you have to change it. Try it and see if it works. | |

nope i am all tweeked out, but hey it works, Cincinnati Bell had reprovisioned my line from 8800 feet to 10500-11500 someware in that range. plus my line is kind of not good either after doing intensive test.
well if i get reprovisioned then great, but for now i will settle for the 1.1
