| Anon | sad state of affairs Want to know why these numnuts are having the problems that their having? You have a bunch of business guys and an accountant who may be great at running your local bank, 7-11 or department store but have NO clue on how to run a ISP. Being a former employee of these guys you have no idea how screwed up that network is and I know I was one of their engineers. I constantly had to butt heads with these yahoos. Like the old saying goes..." People follow the speed of the leader". As you can gather, it shows what poor leadership they have because it goes from the top to the bottom. | |

| Anon | DA, THEY MUST BE BRAINDEAD I asked them monthly for the past 8 months to bill me and stop charging my credit card. When they finally stopped charging my credit card I received 3 phone calls in the same day that I owed $52 by June 4. I replied to bill be and they replied ok. Well I was charged 2 days later. There connection is slow, my contract is up in July and I can't wait until I find another Service Provider. | |

This outfit is so pathetic is makes my head hurt. I have been running a dinky little SMTP server just for the purpose of having "me@my-domain.com" style e-mail addresses instead of "somedork@bignet.net". I have had it up for months and months with no problems. Now, "BigNuts" decided to block port 25 out of the clear blue. After about 10 calls to tech support (and a few unanswered emails to the netops), I was finally told that if I want to run my stupid little mail server, I will have to upgrade to the business line at $250/month.
I asked about "Half-Life" servers, "Quake" servers, and the like. "You can run those if you want, that's fine" I was told by some pimply faced loser on the other end of the phone. When I gently explained to him that one of those servers will gobble up approximately fifteen million times the bandwidth of my little mail server, he told me I'd have to "take that up with the corporate office." I can imagine how far I'll get trying to get a port opened back up by talking to the bean-counters.
RUN, do not walk, away from Bignet.

| I agree! I had a very very bad experience with Big Net that I am constantly trying to forget. My IDSL line would go down DAILY, without fail. The idiots at Big Net couldn't figure out the problem. They sent Covad out, and Covad said everything was OK at my end, had to be Big Net. Even getting through to Big Net over the phone was a miracle in itself! 95% of the time, you would get cut off after choosing who you want to talk to. Once I finally got through to billing, I canceled my account. Now, I am hapily speeding along with RoadRunner. Big Net is a terrible company, and I am just doing my part to spread the word! | |

| Bignet - The Chevette of ISPs I am in the same situation in Germantown. Tech support at Bignet sucks! Trying to get a response from them is impossible. I emailed every tech support and bigwig in the company and never got a response. I even hard coded my IP adress hoping that they would call after I caused some IP conflicts, but still no calls.
My 144/144 line was actually up for all but 5 days out of a 18 month period. Sometimes it was pretty quick, lots of times it was dog slow.
On the positive side, Covad finally realized how bad Bignet is and is dropping them as an ISP as of Dec 30 2001. How does Covad choose to inform customers of this change you ask? They sent me a postcard telling me to switch to Covad.Net within 3 weeks or I would be disconnected permanently. 64.96 for a 144/144 from Covad.Net (vs 45.95 from bignut) RoadRunner is getting installed tommorow! Covad is next in line to go tits-up. Good ridance!
