Himmmm!

Well I can't wait to get it installed this Monday! How far are you from the CO. Plus if you know, do you have VoIP or VoATM? Also, where is your ION Hub located? I looking if the ION techs are flexable on where the Hub is placed. Thanks for any info!

Re: Himmmm!

The ION techs should be fairly flexible on the hub mounting, it's really not that big of a hub, at least for my install. Definitely hope you have VoATM. That works great for the voice side on my system (I'll get my review up one of these decades).

My question for the L.A. guy-

WHich C50 hub did u get? THe old boxy one or the new aerospace gray one?

Re: Himmmm!

My ION Techs were a breeze to work with and installed the "aerospace gray" hub right where I wanted it. I'm interested in VoATM, that you mentioned. Can you help me out with some info? What do I need to get rolling with this?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Himmmm!

Well I have been reading that Sprint does some installation with the VoATM protocal instead of VoIP due to VoATM is more stable and the voice quality is far better. Don't quote me on this, this is what I heard and read. P.S. where did the installers placed your ION Hub?

The Hub

They installed the hub right behind my computer. The ION guys ran some cable from the phone outlet in my office to the computer, only a distance of about 10 feet, which obviously was no big deal. The entire installation was a piece of cake for them. No line problems, no synch problems and 5,000kb line speed.

Do I need to contact Sprint for the VoATM, or do I already have either VoIP or VoATM installed? Thanks.

?

Good question on the VoATM thing? I don't realy know. I going to have my ION installed tomorrow (Monday 16th). I can't wait, at that time I am going to ask the installers about the VoATM thing. And I will post the results tomorrow. Thanks for the Info!!!

FYI

Great link on VoATM. Still don't know what the deal is, but some interesting reading.

VoATM

I called ION today to ask them if I was VoIP or VoATM and found out that in my area we are VoATM. Obviously this is a good thing from what I've read, but don't know much more than that. I do know that the lines are crystal clear with NO echo. Best of luck on yours.

Hi,

I got the grey hub it is called the C50. It is a small grey desktop unit about the size of my old Hayes external modem.

I don;t know if I have VoIP or VoATM. If you know how I can tell, let me know. Whichever it is, it works fine.
