no title

My charter pipeline in SoCal often goes out for periods of time due to upstream/downstream power problem. Although It only took 1 tech in 1 day to install mine its out a couple hours a day. They sent a tech out and he claimed he fixed it but it still does the same thing. I really don't apreciate that.

Re: no title

I have had charter pipeline for over a year now and I do not get through one day without some kind of network problem. I have had technicians out already 4 times and each time they say that it is fixed and the problem starts up again in less than 2 days.

Re: FED UP ALREADY

Got this a month ago and the speed dropped dramatically from day one. I have lost service 3 times in the last 2 days and after spending a half hour on hold listening to their interminable advertisements, the help desk said that they have noticed that the Earthlink backbone is not too stable. Duh!!! Oh God, Oh God what have I gotten myself into?

Charter....

That's why I got rid of charter.....because of outages and bad reliability.

Now I have pacbell DSL, installed in 1 week, and running more than perfect.

Re: Charter....

So far I haven't had any problems with my connection and it's been about a year or so. I get 1.5 Mbps downsteam, but a slow 128 Kbps upstream. I'm not too concerned with the upstream, though, considering the fact that I don't like to upload.

Re: Charter....

Good to hear.
I believe the same. It's not like we are running servers...

charter

the reason why you're getting disconnected lately is because they're rebuilding their network. It hasn't happened for like the past week and they are currently working on their infrastructure.

Can't really feel your pain. I have charter pipeline in my dad's and my girlfriend's house...Solid connection for 1 and half years. 768/128... Never really had any major outages.

Charter Thumbs-Up - Well, Sort Of

I have had Charter since February and not had one single glitch yet. I do consulting in the SE WI area and recommend the service to my customers over DSL every time.

My only gripe would be that I had to buy 50 more channels of crap in order to get the internet service. I feel like I'm being made to pay for something I don't want and really resent it.

Thumbs Down to Charter

I found out yesterday that Bellsouth Fastaccess DSL is expanding to my area, and have had sales people calling to sell service. I hope to say so long Charter as soon as it is confirmed that they are in the area.

My review of Charter is as follows: Unreliable, less than consistant service, slow, slugish, terrible, anything but acceptable service.

Unlike Charter, Bellsouth Fastaccess offers 1.5/256 guaranteed.

Re: Thumbs Down to Charter

Don't be fooled by that whole "Guaranteed" 1.5/256 nonsense. The connection is only guaranteed to the DSLAM. Past the DSLAM, your connection is shared with every other subscriber connected to that DSLAM.

A DSLAM can be over sold just as easily as a CMTS in a cable modem system.

That Bellsouth "guarantee" is worth about as much as cable company "guaranteeing" the connection from your PC to the cable modem.

Who cares if it's guaranteed to the cable modem or DSLAM, considering it's all shared eventually?
