| Re: HOW CAn you be happy with 600/300!?!?!?!? Well your right, expectations have a lot to do with it. I went from 56K modem to a connection that was on average 10-12 times faster with a cost that was barely twice what I was paying before.
Reading your post "tweaked" (pun intended) my curiosity and I tossed in about 20 minutes tweaking some settings (just some quick guesswork) and I've increased my speed 2.5 times (approx 1500/380 now).
If I take the time to do some proper reading and properly finetune my settings, I'll get even better results.
But for now I'll just enjoy my new found speeds, while I pleasantly remember originally connecting to BBS at 1200bps, chuckle about when moving from 14.4K up to a 28.8K modem seemed fast and the awe felt at the lightening speeds that came with dual 64k ISDN connections. (despite how high the costs were at the time)
Of course top end speeds were never attained with any of these, but we always remembered to keep our expectations realistic. | it isn't the slowest; my friend, who is on rogers@home, has about an average of 280kbps down and 250kbps up. he has tweaked before, but the problem is not his computer but the overcrowded nodes in his area. -- "in the game of life, how many times can you honestly say that it is fair?"

| 280/250 !?!?
I'm not sure where does that person live so the speed he/she is getting is such a mess. I live in downtown Toronto and my speed has never been less than 1.5Mbps. The only time it showed 200k/200k was the first time I logged in, but 5 minutes later I had a patch from speedguide.net already installed and the speed went up to about 2Mbps. If I'm getting this in downtown at 9pm, then no one should be complaining from slow speeds anywhere in the city...

| ..get a grip...
...I started at 1.4meg, an now run 2.4meg consistently, after usin the SpeedGuide tweak...
...Roger's claims 2meg max...
...obviously, if yur gettin less than that, yur not tweaked, or you got a prob with yur line. I asked for a direct line, straight from the pole, no splitter to my TV, Roger's wuz more than happy to oblige...
...if yur havin big probs with yur speed, give em a call, ask for a direct line, it's no extra charge, all ya gotta do is ask...
...I've already tripled my HSE speed, up and down, for $6 less a month, an I ain't totally tweaked yet, got some playin to do with DRTCP still, I just ain't got around to it, cause, well, go figure, how much more do I need?...
...for me, it's bye bye Stunnedpatico, hello Roger's :^)
