For me, tech support didn't know how many of those little wires it took to use ADSL, they think you need four maybe!

Well, I think it is luck of the draw. I'm a newer customer (only a few weeks). I've had mostly great experiences with tech support. The hold time was less than 30 seconds (unless they already answered and were checking with another department), and the accuracy and knowledge has been above average.

By the way, I don't know anyone who works for Ameritech or the SBC empire... Nor do I own stock. Ameritech Tech Support really has been impressive on the 5 or so calls I've made to them.

hrm I guess even though you have had the service for years with nothing but a good experience the company is just complete crap now because of one technical issue and you got 2 reps that were not any good. Way to be.

Calm down, folks. Yes, it has gone completely negative because my DSL has been down since last week, and I cannot get a straight answer on when it will be up again, or even if it will. I have received several different stories from different people at SBC, none of which seem to jibe with the others. I've spent hours on the phone with so-called tech support (Indian, of course), who refused to issue a trouble ticket, and only wanted to make me go through the process of making new PPPOE connections time after time after time. It's very frustrating. I managed to talk to one of their networking people in St. Louis, and even he so far has not been able to get me online. Major frustration substracts major points in my book. The points will be averaged out AFTER my connection is restored.

You are VERY optimistic. You seem to think someone will throw a switch, and all of your problems will go away. This is only the start. You are in for a long, painful relationship.

I think you have everyright to feel as you want. This is a very slanted forum towrds SBC. You won't win the arguements, don't try.
It doesn't matter you have to send HOURS trying to get a service to work that you pay for.. It doesn't matter that you have been a customer for years... And maybe they should work a bit harder for that reason.
None of it matters other than you are complaining.
