beware of CodeRed

First, congrats...

Second, make sure you aren't running IIS, or PWS, and if you are that you have the right patch level.

A good firewall, or NAT router would solve the multiple IP needs, as well as provide some protection for your 'always on connection'.

Welcome to the club, man!

Hi: I am waiting for the installation of our xt4 service which is due in three weeks. I am trying to learn as much as possible from the people posting here.

Help. What is IIS and PWS. Also what is a NAT router.

Re: beware of CodeRed

lets see if i can help u a bit... IIS as i understand is Internet Info system that micros**t makes...stay away, many security issues, pws=personal web server(self explanitory), a nat router is just a router that lets you have 1 ip and have multiple servers behind it running off of 1 ip, also can give internet acces to computers on your lan, good for security

hope i helped

Guinea Pig For SprintION

Sorry to say that all is not well for SprintION in its Chicago rollout. Data is okay but other features need work. Faxing through WinFaxPro 10.0 is nearly impossible. Problems appear one day, are fixed the next day, and re-appear on the following day. Incoming phone service stopped for five business days after installation....a real hazard when running a home based business.

Pricing is very good and includes custom calling features on all lines (they don't have 3-way calling yet), free local long distance calling and Super DSL (Ameritech offers 768/128, SprintION is at 5.7mps coming into my location and about 3.2mps through DSLReports speedtest.

In new markets, SprintION may offer free installation, free equipment and fress service for a promotional period of time.

Re: Guinea Pig For SprintION

Call and have them open a trouble ticket for all those little bugs. They eventually had to rebuild my connection, but after doing so all I had to do was reboot my hub and everything has worked fine since then. It does take some patience, but it will get fixed. Chicago is a new market and they're still working out some of the bugs. Why else would they give us the 3 months free service, free install and equipment?

Friedland, i live in flossmoor. It is a burb south of the city. I am trying to get ion as well. How far away from the CO are you? After i reviewed the service it turns out its going to save me like over $100 a month on what im paying ameritech now for phone, mci for ld, and directvdsl for my dsl. Is this service really a good deal? It seems kick ass on paper.

60-90 Days for install?

I had my DSL up in less than 10 business days, I think SBC has improved the install times quite a bit, you should give it another try.

Why does sprint Ion keep selling if they are going under?
