Oh my god...

US Cable sounds pathetic....that has to be the worst cable provider i've ever heard of! Good idea switching to OOL for data service =)

Cable choice? Isn't that an oxymoron?

Curious. I had no idea that communities could have a choice of cable providers, much less a choice of which one provides broadband.

Can you elaborate on how your community handles this? Does Cablevision and U.S. Cable both have runs on the pole? If not, does your community own the local wiring network and lease it back to competitors? How the heck does that work?

Re: Cable choice? Isn't that an oxymoron?

There are actually two strands on the poles for the two towns. One belonging to Cablevision, and one to US Cable. I believe Cablevision tried to buy their customer base once, but US Cable refused to sell. The two strands seem to cause conflicts though. When you switch from one company to the other, they both try to hi-jack the other's pole drop. It seems like a small war between the two companies. In my case, I have two separate drops off each strand from the pole to the house.

At least the know about the cap

Call comcast @home over in east windsor NJ and they are like what cap? I don't know of any cap. It must be something wrong with your internet settings. More BS that they have no clue about. At least code red isn't acting up on the network anymore with the blinking light.

US cable sounds like a decent company, at least they tell you what they are doing, what they did, and how they are planning to fix it. Would rather have them than a company that lies to me.

Wireless service

Warpdrive also provides Fixed-wireless service for business customers. This is a dedicated service with static IP's and fixed bandwidth. They also provide DNS and Email service. Overall it is a great replacement for the now quickly dying (if not already dead in some areas) DSL service. Installed in less than a week, you cant beat that.

No equip. charge, and friendly, knowledgable support staff. two thumbs up. I should work for them

Did you ever try online games with US cable?

Just wondering what kind of pings you would've gotten.

Do you always get those speeds with OOL

I have been looking into changing cable companies. I also can get US Cable. But talking about their internet service i dont know if i want to change now. The reason that i want to possibly change is because Cablevision is not carrying the new YES network (Yankees). US Cable is carrying. I might do what you do, and have US Cable for my tv and OOL for my internet. I will have to look into it.

sucky me thinks

I live in a small town north of minneapolis minnesota, and the only sorce of high speed net access is warp drive online, from USCable. I get about 750 down and 200 up. I am always getting disconnected/unsynced and having to reset the (generic) modem they gave me. Only got 3 email accounts. The cable TV sucks here too.

The one thing I like about warpdrive is they provide free access to giganews newsgroups. You get 1gb worth of downloading per email account, too bad i only get 3 email accounts.

I ended up trashing thier provided modem and purchased a new one, since getting the new one running, it has been easy sailing!

good, until i moved

everything was great until the day i moved. they sent a tech out to switch the service over when they said they would. the problem is, he didn't submit the work order so i lost internet and home phone (vonage). i called their tech support, and they sent someone out to look at my internet, charging me $30 because of something they messed up. thankfully, everything has been decent since then since i don't want to call their tech support again.
