You may need to check it out..

79ms latency is a bit high, unless you're pinging hosts in the west coast. Try pinging east coast servers, you should get somewhere around 27ms. Try pinging your DNS servers.

You're right. I was pinging Seattle from New York.
Ping time was .023 to the DSN.

That's actually equivalent to my Verizon ADSL (640/90)

Average speeds: 520/85
Average latency: 50-80ms

Perhaps you should tweak?

Yeah, I know Verizon is $10 cheaper but they won't let you run a server.. in fact they really only allowed one computer per residential line the last time I checked.... and their commerical rates for a static IP were through the roof.

Let me add to that:

I only pay $40.00/month for Verizon.

I'm not recommending Verizon if your a "hard-core" computer user, gamer, whatever.. just stating that Verizon costs $10 less then SPEAKEASY.net yet its similar speed and latency wise.

Check out »www.OptimumOnline.com to see if Optimum Online is available in your area.

Average speeds are 8000+/1000+ -> That's pretty awesome for only $30-40/month

isnt speakeasy dsl made for gamers? cuz they use less hops ..how many less hops they use than cable? is there really a difference?
