| The Cais story This company was doomed to fail from the get-go...
Back in early 2000 when Cais convinced Microsoft, 3Com and KKR to give them hundreds of millions of dollars to fund their hotel expansion rollout, management had an inept strategy of profit to loss. They installed routers and kiosks at Hotel across the country at no cost to the establishments. The rallying cry was "build, and they shall come" This burned millions in upfront costs. There were literally only a few handful of people who would pay to use this service. Morever, half the time there were constant problems with the DSL connection when people did use the DSL. Millions were lost on the rollout that did not generate anything close to the revenue projected by the Auger management. This is just one of the many reasons this company went under. Stayed tuned for more...
