| Ardent MIS-Communications We still have Ardent unfortunately. We too have been on hold in voice-mail jail for the past five weeks. Our satellite system has never worked properly. I finally did get a hold of someone this past week. I got his phone number from someone else about four weeks ago. When we did talk - yes someone from Ardent actually called me back, I was notified that satellite systems were no longer going to be supported by Ardent and that a letter was going out to those customers notifying them to this. I can hardly wait, as we want to go to a another company that has a reliable internet connection with a helpful, knowledgable support staff. ARE THERE ANY SATELLITE SYSTEM CUSTOMERS OUT THERE WHO HAVE RECEIVED THIS LETTER? | |

| Cais Story Part Deux Not only did Cais management not factor in the low usage rate of their hotel and hospitality rollout, there was another HUGE factor that they did not for-see until it was too late. Embezzlement, mainly by the sales team, up to and including upper sales management. The sales team commission system gave incentive to cheat and embezzle. DSL and T1's take up to 8 weeks or more to implement, but the sales agent who got the contract signed would receive commisions on the contract the very next pay period. Their commission rates were extremely high, up to 95% of the first months usage. One popular method used by sales agents and their managers was to forge contracts and then cancel the subscription before the installation appointment email from Covad or Engineering reached the user who's signature was forged by the sales agent/manager. Thousands if not millions were embezzled using this method for months and was undetected until Covad came to one user's site without sending a confirmation email. The user was furious and threatened to file forgery lawsuit. This led to an investigation by KKR itself that shook up upper management. Than came the coverup...only the middle manager and the participating agent who was got fired, (asked to resign actually) the rest still had their jobs. Lord knows how many thousands or millions were lost due to sales dishonesty at the expense of KKR. If you would more details including the names involved, email me at LanWanMan2K@hotmail.com and I shall reply promptly. Stay tuned for part III.

| Re: Cais Story Part Deux hey hui bui, whats up. kinda ironic that u do nothing but b%#ch about Cais when u were part of the problem, didn't u used to work for that same evil sales department until u couldn't cut it and were moved over to tech support. of course when u were in tech support u seemed to be a little home sick ("ohhh your [insert any network problem that has nothing to do with line speed here] is not working. hmmm, sounds like you need a speed upgrade, I'll refer you to one of our sales people, don't forget to tell them that Hui sent ya"). please do eveybody a favor and stop playing the role of the disgruntled customer with insider info about Cais and let the forum be used properly by Cais customers that have a legit beef with Cais (as there are many). | |

| Cais Story Part III One of the glaring reasons for Cais' downfall was lack of an incompetent billing/collections department. When customer's sign up for service, they would not be billed for months, up to 8 months without a bill most of the time. Cais would than send the customer a massive bill that takes into account the prior months. The customer would be furious and not pay or cancel for breach of contract. It was estimated that 70% of Cais customers would essentially not pay last year and in 2000. All the while Cais continued to burn money on hotel expansion and paying rediculous commissions to the embezzling sales team. All Hail Ulysses Auger! LOLOL

| Re: Cais Story Part III The basic problem is that, when they went into Ch11, they laid off too many of their people!! When the New CEO, Mike Lee came on bord last spring, some employees were laid off, and there was a consolidation into just 2 of the 3 locations in the Washington, DC area. The Washington, DC building was vacated, and the HQ was moved to Rosselyn, VA. The management assurred the employees that there was "Adaquite funding to last into the fourth quarter." without saying wether there was any new funding being arranged. Apparently, there was not. The company also quit the ADSL business at that time, and converted their Dallas TX ADSL backhaul over to SDSL/IDSL, to be used as a local POP. First Rythms went into Ch 11 then Covad did so, then Ardent. When the 4th quarter began , and Ardent filed for Ch11, there were more layoffs. The DSL tech support department, which, a year before was more than 60 people, was eliminated, and the 3 remaining employees from DSL tech support were re-assigned to NOC. the company cut down from 800 people at it's peak, last year this time to 125 right after the Ch11 filing at the beginning of Oct. Since then 5 more have resigned, and no replacement has been hired!! The reason you can no longer get through on the telephone is because, at any one time, there is one person attempting to support 18000 DSL lines!! The service is getting more reliable, but that remains physically impossible!! Michael Lee was incommunicado while all of this was happening, and has since left. This brought back the people who caused the problem originally. Expect them to be sold very soon, likely to one of the big ILECs | |

The only way you will get Ardent to release your circuit is to take legal action. You should do this ASAP.

Since CAIS sold its DSL Service to NAS in a bankruptcy fire sale, what will happen to the folks who use CAIS for web hosting and dial-up services? Will those be sold as well?
