Doesn't Optimum Online (OOL) Offer 10Mb/s Down 1 Mb/s up??? Heheheh..
btw, can you upload and download SIMUTANEOUSLY at 256 k a second? Like.. when there's quite heavy traffic on your web server, can you still download at 256k?

| ool doesnt offer 10mb down/1mb up. that's fantasy.
the best ool performance is closer to 7-8mb down/1 up, and that is with the terajet modems, not the sharkfins or sb4100's. across the board, ool average performance is considerably lower, more like 2.5mb down/1mb up. average up/down numbers are posted on this site somewhere...
I have seen ool connections run as badly as 600 kbps down, and that more than once. ool is one of the premier cable internet outfits in the country, imho, but they aren't perfect either.
lots goes into a "speedy" internet experience. even "lowly" isdn at 112 kbps feels fairly speedy because the latency is much lower than say, 56krap modem connections.
having a static ip and symmetric up/down is the best thing for a web server. the man is lucky and i wish him much luck with his connection. -- If you can see it and touch it, it's physical. If you can see it but can't touch it, it's virtual. If you can't see it and can't touch it, it's gone!
