EL?

I have RR, too, and am very pleased with it here in Centerville. You mentioned that you were going to switch to EL. Will that knock out your $19.95 per month/1st three months from TWC? If you do switch, please post your experience. I think my wife just bought me a BEFSR41 for my birthday (26th), so I may check back here and get your advice. My e-mail is keng@techlock.com.

BTW, does EL also allow dial-up for your cable modem account? I travel frequently, and RR has it now, but limits it to 10 hours per month.

Good Luck.

Re: EL?

ELN has unlimited dial-up with the cable access plan.
Since I was never offered the $19.95 per month deal, I think it is a mute point.
When you get your Linksys, email me through DSLR. I will get back to you from there.

Re: EL?

Hmmmm, makes me consider EL even more. I will e-mail you, probably on the 26th but maybe on the 25th, depending on when I actually get the box. If, in the next few days, you change your mnd about EL, definitely call TWC back and demand the $19.95 deal, along with the free installation. Good luck. I'm especially interested in whether or not your speeds change after going over to EL.

I did get the linksys for XMAS, and it only took about 15 minutes to set it up, including a careful read
of the instructions. I was surprised, and have not had any problems at all. It is the V2, and came with
1.39 firmware, which I don't think I'll reflash because "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" prevails with me.

Re: EL?

Glad to here that you got a Linksys for Christmas.
When I got mine (V2), it was firmware 1.36. Upgraded to 1.39 and probably won't go any further unless they make a significant change in the firmware.

Happy surfing my friend.:):):)

uhhh i have ATT and it sucks before mediaone was bought out by ATT i got pings of 50 most of the time and 20 at lowest and 70 at highest now i am very lucky just to get a ping of 99 for one second. Right now i am getting pings of 800 they said they never had any problems in the past but i know they are just a bunch of liars. The only problem i had with roadrunner before ATT bought it was it's bad tech support but now it is worse. The tech support useless this is what they say we are currently have problems in your area and thats it they won't explain whats causing the problem or anything else. At least at my dads office theres T1 for my X-box

If I ping my RR pop server, I get 10-14 ms almost all of the time. The highest was 20 ms. Sometimes it comes
up 10 ms, which is FINE with me.

Earthlink??? why????

Earthlink has a limit on bandwidth of 500 MB's a month. A gamer goes thought that in a night! a person who uses napster or morpheus easily runs though that bandwidth.. wonder how much it will cost if you go over that limit?? think about it. Road Runner is an excellent service and unbeatable level 3 support.

Re: Earthlink??? why????

Earthlink has no limit on Bandwidth.

Also, Earthlink shares the same exact routing as Time Warner RR so there shouldn't be any difference in speeds...
pings ect.

Can you paste a link to that information? If that becomes the case, so long Cable. Back to either DSL or dialup.
