| You ROCK! I HAVE been struggling with Adelphia's cable internet since April 01. I am sick and tired of their downtime, slow speed, and high packet loss. I am prequalified for DSL with DSLextreme and am seriously thinking about switching over, however, i'm just under 17k ft away so I am worried my speed will suck. But dslextreme's website says that the miniumum speed I should get is 600kbps on the 768kbps plan. I'm using freaking JUNO right now cuz cable has been out ALL DAY... HAPPY FREAKIN NEW YEAR HUH?? | |

| Re: You ROCK! I have a friend 16,000 away from the central serving office. He uses SWBELL dsl. They said he might not even get 500kbps. He gets 1340kbps-1400kbps average. I'm even closer than him and don't get that much, messed up huh? Oh well i'd give it a shit you never know. Don't let them cap you from the start though, if you notice you're ALWAYS getting say 384kbps down then it's most likely they capped you at that speed. SWBELL did that to me without telling me and i finally got fed up with it and called and demanded to be uncapped, now i get 1100kbps. | |

| most DSL will run around 25,000 ft. its the pots lines that require you to stay in that 18,000ft range, anything much over and it needs to be a loaded pair and DSL wont work on loaded pairs. im 16,500 ft from the remote and my down speeds are at 1600 plus. i love it. its what they cap you at in determining what your speeds will be. if they keep the SNR at around 6 to 7.5 you will do great. hang in there bro, DSL is the way of the future,,, keeneye | |

| What speeds should I expect with the $64.95 pkg.?
I had PacificNet 384-1500/128 Pacbell package some time ago, and was getting actual speeds at around 1250/107 kbps. I am very close to the CO (in Hollywood, CA)
Currently, I have AT&T Broadband with usual speeds of 1470/290. However, they've been giving me huge headaches lately. So, I'm thinking about switching to DSL Extreme. My question to DSL Extreme guys, and to everyone else who has the experience with them, is what real-life speeds should I expect with their 768-1500/256 Pacbell package?
Also, having had PacificNet DSL, I am much afraid that there's going to be the same situation when it comes to the tech support should any technical problem arise. Namely, PacificNet would point fingers to Pacbell, and Pacbell would point fingers back at PacificNet, and nobody would to do anything to get an issue resolved.
Please convince me that this is not the case with DSL Extreme!

| Re: What speeds should I expect with the $64.95 pkg.? Since we have different phone companies, I can't say what to expect regarding speeds, but I have found DSLExtreme's tech support to be excellent, all problems I've had have been Verizon's fault (poor grounding causing line noise, misinformation, and other crap). One tech even went so far as to conference call with Verizon tech support to ensure I was getting my problems solved. That really gave me the impression that they care, and don't try to pass the buck. If all their equipment is working fine, there's only so much they can do. I can only hope that PacBell has better customer service than Verizon, for you. | |

Also, I'm very concerned about the finger-pointing game.
