That's just no good

Sorry to hear of your bad experiences of late. The email and news servers were a little shaky after the initial switch but for the most part are a much more stable now although they're still fine tuning the news server.

As for your connectivity, if you check you instant message feature I've left some info on details you can provide so I may investigate your connectivity problems.

Re: That's just no good

Regarding your follow-up post to DaMisfit on Jan 5th, my inlaws are having problems too with Cogeco Cable in the Welland area. Their browser seems to stick at times and often the page eventually cannot be displayed. The data throughput performance seems to be excellent according to the tests using the tools on DSLReports although running the Line Packet Loss testing on the line showed some problems (see »/quality/nil/639032).
Pinging to servers is unreliable. Often a reply is not received for some of the ping attempts.

They have a Com-21 DOXPort 111 modem and I have heard these have problems. I use the service in Burlington and have no problem (the service has been great for the past nine months - rarely down and great throughput). I have a Samsung modem, I believe.

This has only been happening fairly recently. Any ideas?

It all depends

I live in Windsor Ontario, I have Cogeco cable and it flies. In most cases when I am downloading a file I end up getting the file before the transfer rate reaches a maximum AND I'm sharing the connection thru a linksys router which also has proven to kick ass. I had Sympatico DSL before this and it was slow and I lived two blocks from the switch. But I also have a friend who still has Sympatico DSL and he also lives close to his switch and his connection is great. So it depends.

CUT-OFF

Re: It all depends

I too have cogeco, transferred over from Sympatico DSL, because its 2x as fast at least. Im a hardcore file sharer and just got cut off for uploading 106 gigs in just under a month.. and downloading 46
apparantely, im allowed 1 gig up and 5 down. What the hell is that? why give people a Drag racer, and allow them 1 trip a month? i'd rather have a normal car i can drive all the time. in terms of sheer volume, with sympatico, i can upload 30 gigs in a month and download 250 - 300 gigs with out the risk of getting shut off for three days..(with speed being the only bearing factor, not a crap user agreement.
Sure its slower, HSE, but in terms of volume, its the way to go.
See ya on IRC, #futuramaepisodes dalnet
