Ya

Can't emphasize enough, use DSLR. This user sounds like he did what I did, read DSLR thoroughly before connecting, so ready for it. My story was almost identical, up within minutes of having a good connection. My speed was only 700 but I immediately applied the tweaks and has been 1200/220 ever since.

i just recently got bellsouth high speed service and as far as speeds fluctuating during the day, I have tested my line all day for speed changes and the do not fluctuate like a cable modem would..

actually my speeds stayed pretty constant...i am happy so far...

Linksys the bane of BSFA

I couldn't help noticing the reference to slow performance when using linksys routers with BSFA. When I go direct from my modem to PC or use other brands of routers, I get speeds of 1160+/200+. The linksys can bring it down to under 200/20. You've mentioned some tweaks to your settings helped you with your Linksys. What specific changes did you make? I've tried a few things, but without much success.

By the way, when I first got BSFA in March, there were several occasions when their mail server would be down, but now it up most of they time. I'm pretty satisfied now.

Westell versus your Linksys

I had a westell 6100 for two years in Miami and I recommend putting the modem in "bridge" mode and still using your linksys for routing instead of the Westell and using the modem as purely a modem. The Linksys does a much better job at routing then your westell will. That's what worked best for me.

Why are you paying extra for something you don't need?

added networking support.
You have used a Router since 2002 and just now need networking support? After 4-5 years of running your own LAN you should know more than the techs at BS.
