Routers & Home Networking Ok

I'm not sure why you have the impression that they frown on the use of routers. They don't care. There's no issue with you using a router.

Tech support, when debugging an issue with you, might request that you directly plug a computer into the cable modem and take the router out of the picture. That's for eliminating the router from the environment while troubleshooting. But once completed, you can put the router back in.

OOL is very router-friendly too - no names/domains or MAC cloning needed. Just plug in most routers and they work right out of the box.

Have you tweaked your OOL connection?

Re: Routers & Home Networking Ok

You are very misinformed. one of the few times that I had a problem I happened to mention that I'm using a router. The tech support person calmly said, "We do not support routers and networking, goodbye" Wouldn't that give you the impression that they have a problem with networking?

Did you by chance say you would not BYPASS the router when asked to do so? That could be why. If they even THINK that could be the cause and you are aske to bypass it, do it or you may not be helped like you need to be.
