| Insight does not have insight into real broadband. I'm on Insight as well, and I'm starting to see sub 2300 kbps on the download, and sub 95 kbps on the upload.
Nobody on the Insight network gets 5 megabits, and 3 or 3.5 is extremely rare now.
If you are on Insight and routinely download at 700-800 KB/s, please show me proof, and tell me who your daughter is seeing to make it happen.
Insight's level of service and reliability over the past several years has been sinking like a stone, as has their stock price. Getting solid information out of Insight is like getting information out of a Soviet naval commander; it is often convoluted and untimely, and just as often plain wrong.

Strange, I have & STILL DO!
Notes: 1. broadbandreports/DSLreports tests (in the old ver) did not seem to want to Ever show me much over 3mbps; however, I got results from 2.5 to 3mbps WITH DL's of 1.5 to 2.5 mbps running & NetStat Live showing total incoming in excess of 5mbps. I've never had bbr/dskr test do much good over 3mbps, even when other tests would show such consistantly.
2. other speedtests based in Europe (from the bbr "other tests" lists)have shown me results from 5 to 10 mbps quite often & still frequently do!
3. the broadbandrports/DSLreport test recently Changed Java versions used to now REQUIRE the Sun Java DL to work (even for the Java Version check applet. STRANGE - in that the older versions of the applets worked FINE with all my systems (N4.8 on all, IE varying between 5.1sp1 & 6.01); & now work for NONE. Yet Java works for almost all websites I visit with all my browsers (some stuff doesn't work in N4.8 but that's stuff with M$ IE centric coding, not the Java stuff). *I* would have to say that you need to use speed test checks from somewhere OTHER than bbr/dslr to get good consistant results imo.
Note: I almost always have 1.5 to 2 mbps 'incoming' from Newsgroups/Usenet & don't have any trouble getting 250-300 KBytes/sec DL's at the same time from good fast servers.
