| Status 4/19/00 Well, I was about to call FASTNET and inquire about my order, but they sent me an email before I call them. Well, they said they had taken care of the "technical difficulty", and they will continue with my order. I should receive appointment dates from BA and Covad within 2 weeks. | |

| Status 4/26/00 After not hearing from any of the three companies (BA, Covad, or FASTNET), I called FASTNET just to check on the status. The rep on the phone was very friendly, and she told me she would call Covad to find out the latest, and she would call me back today. To be totally honest, I wasn't expected that she would call me back after reading some of the posts here. To my surprise, she called me back within 5 minutes, and informed me that she spoke with Covad. Covad told her that the last entry in the work log is on 4/18 which is to verify my address and clear up some mixed up at the CO. Now the ball is at BA's hand, and they are waiting BA to give an installation date. | |

 | Anon | Status 5/5/2000 I had been calling FASTNET for the past couple days to check on my order. I was told that I should hear something from Covad for the installation date soon. Well, I got it today. The Bell install is scheduled for 5/12/2000. While the Covad installation date was not given. The email says that the Covad date will be given shortly AFTER Bell has done its part. Oh well, I think they used to give both dates in the same email, but they change it now so that they will make sure Bell does it job before Covad sends anyone out for install. I'd say it's a smart move for Covad given that Bell has always been lagging behind. | |

| Status 5/14/2000 Bell Atlantic showed up on 5/12/2000 bright and early. They got to my house at about 9:30am. The two techs were very knowledgable and polite. At first they had some trouble with the line, but eventually they got it fixed. They were in and out in less than 2 hours. Actually I didn't need to wait for them because my telephone box is accessible from the outside, but after reading so many horror stories about BA, I decided to stay home and see how it went. Anyway, I want to give BA an A for the good job they did for me. However, we won't know the line will actually work until Covad does its install on Monday 5/15/2000. I will keep updating this review. | |

| What Lag! In reply the to the 60ms time it takes for you to reach your gateway, It's my experience that that is high. I thought I had it bad with the 35ms time it takes for me to reach my gateway. I noticed that you said you are 5500 ft from the CO. I'm only 1900 ft from my CO. I suspect that distance may be a factor in that long time you must wait to reach your gateway.
Cheers! | |

| Re: What Lag! I am an experienced BBand user, and it looks to me like you will have to tweak your TCPIP settings. MaxMTU is probably still @ 1500 from dialup/default setting..This will not work properly, try a lower setting like 1100 with DefaultMSS of 1060 (-40 to allow for packet header) and DefaultRCVWindow of 127200. You can change these by editing the registry or getting autoprograms to do it for you... »www.speedguide.net/Cable_modems/index.shtml for more info. | |
