| be thankful just be thankful dude...up until may 5th of this year usenet for Cox here in VA was 15kb per thread..with max of 3 threads...now usenet around here gives the comms error of "NOT ALLOWED...TOO MANY CONNECTIONS...TRY AGAIN LATER TYPHOON V2.0"...lol now its no speed...bad latency...and now usenet restrictions...lol and you people don't want cable regulation....laff...if you have been keeping up with the news and such that DSLREPORTS.com provides on the news page....you will start seeing the light...Cox Cable WILL prevail...will gooble up every other struggling small cable company....give you the same shi*&(y service as is in the Virginia-North Carolina regions...and you wont have no choices in the matter, because it will ALL be Cox Cable we'll all go to Atlanta Georgia before hitting the internet we'll all see the COMMS ERROR on usenet have crappy speed...all it takes is time. You all want to know why Verizon has soooo many shi*(y reviews?...maybe a few of them is legit, but more than likely their supervisors was told to tell the installers to stall like hell...cause they cant be competitve like other ppl who offer dsl just like the long distance thing but i think after this issue here a couple of weeks ago in congress about verizon and dsl i think they will change cause now THEY can profit too, well i hope someone high up can see that Cox is getting too big for their britches and someone does need to impose some regulatory voodoo on their asses like at least 90% of advertised speed day or night...minimal latency issues especially when its before the gateway..dammit its their jobs and their cables just like verizon, and NON MONKEY tech support "Mr. Blasphemus do you know how to reboot your cable modem?"..omg lady just gimme Tier 2 nevermind. Cox cable in the past year or so replaced god knows how much cable upgraded to fiber new service drops had probably 30 contract crews in the area tearing up gaslines every day trust me i know this and the end result...speed slows latency goes through roof and get told to turn in my cable modem if i dont like it..lol i hope someone like wow comes to this area anybody that know anything about latency will be bailing ship. | |

| How to get better NG service from Cox As far as the News Groups go, here is the trick. You need reader that will support it....You can actually have 4 simotanous (sp?) connections to each News server (west, central and east) for a total of 12 connections. This will get you a full pipe on the downstream. | |

| That should not even be necessary. Newsgroup speed capping per connection doesn't stop "power downloaders" and only annoys the subscriber, who supposedly bought high speed but ended up with a 50k/second connection. the vast majority of newsreaders are single server single connection. | |

| So much for no download limit Now Cox has instituted DL caps. 2GB per 24 hour period and/or 30GB per month. What was a great service is now moving toward the bottom of the list of desirable ISPs.

| higher caps ?! Are you sure they have higher caps ? So far, they are one of the few ISPs with per byte caps and they are LOW.
Or are you referencing speeds ? In which case, the have a faster transfer rate than others.
