| Congrats!!
Thats great that you found some great service. I also got DSL Extreme in the Valencia area and should be hooked up by the end of the week. Best bargain for the buck. I hope my connections are as good as yours, although I am 16k feet from the CO. I will just have to wait and find out.

| kiddk22 im sure your speeds will be great, im somewhat close to your distance (14200ft) and im on the 1.5/384 plan and im constantly getting 1410-1450Kb down and 375-384Kb up. I was using frame relay (fujitsu modem) with them for awhile than my co upgraded to ATM so i merged over to it and my speed and latency got alot better, i was told by many peeps that it wouldnt make that much of a deal but in my case it made a big change. On frame relay i was hitting a constant 1300-1400 down and 350-360 up with a gateway ping of 21ms. Now im pinging 11-13ms to my gateway and the new and improved dl/up speeds.
Kiddk22 what type of modem did you receive from dslextreme? if you got anything other than a fujitsu your on ATM. -- .:born again hooligan:. [text was edited by author 2002-06-18 18:05:47]

| The only way u\you are going to get 200 + uploads is if they use Covad for line provisioning, and they cannot do that if you are on a remote terminal connection. Covad is not allowed access to RT's, only CO's, in Pac Bell or Verizon land. -- Drop by my site if you like webcams and stock quotes. »www.smcinsjc.com | |

| Re: Former Canuck Well whoop-de-doo, another person in the West San Fernando Valley crowing about their Time Warner RoadRunner.
I live in the EAST San Fernando Valley.
EAST.
Makes a BIG difference.
West: Time Warner is your cable company. There's fiber to the curb end-to-end. They did this in a very planned, very organized way...they even published their plans in the Daily News TV Book.
East: Adelphia is the current owner of your POS cable system. Fiber in the head-end but coax everywhere else. Terayon TeraPro crappy cable modem system which loses sync at the drop of a hat. Cable system has been passing like a hot potato between several owners. Gotta love that ghetto cable.
Telco DSL was my only realistic choice after Adelphia's crap. Sprint DSL doesn't serve Paranoia City. Yeah, this is slow by comparison to your Ferrari system. But it's reliable. More like a Volvo or a Toyota. I like it. Sorry I can't beat your speed, but I'm enjoying my bandwidth nonetheless. And numbers be damned, this feels faster than my Powerlink ever felt. -- Powered by DSLExtreme, SMC Barricade, Windows 2000, Linux and MacOS!
