Verizon is the TELCO . . .
. . almost made me switch to Verizon -- in fact, I would have if it weren't for the sacrifice in speed . . . Most likely EarthLink is buying from Verizon and reselling to you. Why choose to have a middleman? I do not understand that.
You mention a "Relocation Service Nightmare." That happened because you had EarthLink. Having a middleman complicates all of the issues. You ask EarthLink, and all they can do is ask Verizon. With DSL, the company that owns the equipment is the one you want to do business with.
