Nice

Nice to hear that some people are coming out with that. Only gripe was that after searching their site for 10mins, I finally found out that is in Illinois. Of course I could have looked at your location on your post, but I was ignorant and didn't look there. They goto great lengths to show the counties they support, but I had no idea what state those counties were even in. But I would love to have some wireless options here. (Northeastern, PA) Unfortunatly with all the mountians here, it would take about 562346347 transmitters just to cover one mile here.

Re: Nice

While I don't know if they cover your area, I know that burst.net has been setting up some locations in Northeast PA. (»www.burst.net/access/coverage.shtml)

Airlogic

This has to be too good to be true! I live in Long Grove (practically in Mundelein) and have been dying for some alternative to ISDN. I called AirLogic today and they are going to come out and check out my site. I just pray I'm in an area where I can receive it!

Re: Airlogic

Well, it sounds like you are probably in the same neighborhood as me. It narrows it down a lot if you are practically in Mundelein but still in Long Grove. If you are in the same neighborhood, we are only about a mile from the tower.

How are the speeds?

How fast is it? It is my understanding that this company uses burstable speed. How long does your speed last before it dies down? How's your latency? What does it die down to? I'm seriously considering using this ISP... I seem to fall into their coverage area.

Re: How are the speeds?

I just downloaded all three Redhat 7.3 ISO's from ftp.sunet.se (Where's that? Sweden maybe?). Average speed over about three hours of solid file transfer was about 1550'ish. It did fluctuate around a little bit (sometimes I saw ~900, sometimes ~2000, within a few seconds.)

Latency is good. The very first packet takes longer to get from here to there, but the rest of them are good. My pings to dslreports are: 100, 50, 40, 50 for an average of 60.

My pings to dslreports.com just now were 42, 40, 43, 45 for an average of 42ms. I recently downloaded some Linux distro ISOs too, and I was seeing around 1 - 1.5M download speeds. While it is pretty hard to judge whether dips in the speeds are due to the ISP or the server at the other end, I have seen consistency reliable speeds so far.

Servers?

I can't find anything about the possibility of running HTTP servers or FTP servers on the connection. Anyone know if it is permitted? For $100 it seems like a deal if servers are allowed.

Re: Servers?

Give them a call and ask. They are very very friendly and customer focused.
