Bit Caps

You may be looking at Sympatico but remember that right now they have a 5Gig/month cap limit then the bill extra.

Re: Bit Caps

I don't give a crap about their 5gb/mo caps because I'm getting Ultra with 10gb/mo bit caps... and it's better to have that than an inconsistant service with pings that are extremely unstable and very very slow speeds!

I don't give a @#$! how long it takes to upgrade their equipment, I'm leaving! Their cable tv packages suck unless you get digi cable, and their net is just as bad! Moving to Rogers was the biggest mistake ever.
Rogers is the worst alternative(s)!

I don't give a crap about their server policy, and the way I see it is that if you download more than 50gb / month you should open the door, walk outside, get some fresh air and take a walk in the friggen park!

Rogers is one of the most unorganized cable companies in Canada! Their deals suck, and they rip customers off IMO!

If you ask me, stay as far away as possible from them!

Rogers User

@cable.rogers

But again...the IRC world

Look, sure rogers is a great ISP, but people like to run servers.n Right now, thousands of Rogers Users are runing servers. If rogers catches them, we have a warning, and eventually if we do not stop we will be terminated to the server. Many of my friends use servers to transport school work here and there. Why shoudn't this be allowed. What do you think?

Re: But again...the IRC world

Is Rogers really going to impose upload/download caps in the new year? That's unacceptable! I download several gigabytes daily! Does anybody else know an ISP in the London area which does NOT have upload/download caps? An ISP with better speed is also desirable!

Well, that's an exception... but I'm saying if you download 50 gigs of warez or play games 24/7 =\

I am on GTN DSL here in London. I think it is great. I left Sympatico and sent their crap back. I have been reading a lot of peoples reviews. I don't think CAPS with bandwidth are acceptable, especially when you have to pay close to $50 with tax included. Nowhere in the States and even out west do they do this crap. It is you the people who should decide what you get. Sympatico doesn't care if you stay, but if you all go, they will change their evil ways. This has often been peoples problem, you are not a herd of sheep. I bought they same package (Alcatel modem, filters, cables, I already had network card) for $130 from eBay.ca . I left Sympatico before they could bill me for extra bandwidth. Now I support a local small business and it took me 10 days start to finish. I have had better speeds and pings and at the moment no caps. $34.95 gets you a dynamic IP. And you can get 3mb service.

But I agree that FTP servers for ligit use should be allowed, like the guy who says he uses it for school. I will be damned if some corporate asshole is going to tell me how to use my dollars. Sympatico tried to calm me down and not to leave, oh yeah we have Ultra $69.95 (10gigs or even $20). Don't you get it this is the dawn of high speed. Your paying for a service that still has gilitces in both Cable and DSL (maybe Optic/2 way Dish will be better). I would pay Ultra price if it was UNLIMITED. If this crap conitunes I will go back to dial-up. It's a sad day in this country when you have to do that.

BUT we as users should maybe take some responsibility for our actions. Do we need a 100 gigs of Kazaa movies and music. NO. Sometimes we should tame our activities just a little so we free bandwidth, not for the big companies, so we don't screw fellow users.

Re: But again...the IRC world

I agree with all of your points, but there are those who abuse the bandwidth with worthless $#!^...
I hope they'll have fiber ready to use by 2005 if not sooner.

I can't believe Sympatico would cap Lite customers!
AEI was smart. Their 1000/160 package comes with unlimited bandwidth, and their High-Speed (3500/800) has 20gb. If they were to increase it a little bit it would be evem better.

Rogers what a joke!

I just had the last tech support discussion I'm going to have with Rogers, what a piece of junk. Slow and inconsistent speeds, crappy customer service and no clue as to how their own system works.

I just signed up for DSL, not from Bell, and hope to dump my Rogers cell and cable services as well. They have no clue what they're doing other than they're pissing off a lot of people by converting technology etc. and generally screwing up. I don't intent to allow any more of my money to contribute their bottom line.

I run my own business and if I treated my customer this way they'd be leaving in droves.... Hopefully current and future Rogers customers read this and drop them like the piece of crap they are.

Sympatico for the gamer?

I currently have Rogers and I am completely fed up with the lack of ping consistency (hence I am a gamer). I am contemplating to leave Rogers for Bell but I'm just wondering if the switch worth it in terms of ping/download speeds. Any word?
