Best tech support I have ever recieved HA!

If Bellsouth has the best tech support you've ever had, then I must ask this:

What ISP did you have before? AOL?

BS Support is just that....BS

BellSouth tech support is pretty good!!!

It has gotten alot better over the past 6 months. They deserve the JD Powers award. Ever tried COX tech support? Now that is a joke!!!

Bellsouth Tech Support...

Now to clear the air about Bellsouth Tech Support.

1) Bellsouth DSL Tech Support "Employees" do not work for Bellsouth. They work for a contract company known as ClientLogic.

2) Some TSRs will be knowledgeable, others will make you wish you could rip their head off their shoulders and bash it against something very solid such as concrete. The majority sit in a cubicle looking at a search engine with a database of questions/answers. Try not to get upset with them if you know everything up to a certain point. They are just trying to cover all the bases, as they are taught to do.

3) When a TSR mentions they're calling a "Line Technician" be prepared to hold for a while, or even asked to disconnect all the lines in your home so they can test the line. Once again, try not to get upset.

4) If you have dealt with an item numerous times, and are getting fed up, you have two options, which you could quite use together. The first is to ask for a Product Specialist. These are the people that are just above the TSRs that you get when you call. PSs are usually much more knowledgeable and might be able to help you more. The second thing is to know the President/CEO of Bellsouth's name, and his hobby. I guarantee you, that if you tell a TSR or PS that you golf with F. Duane Ackerman, your 72 hour wait on a trouble ticket will magically change to a 24 hour turnaround.

Hopefully this will help you in any future "encounters" with Bellsouth Tech Support (BTW, when I worked for ClientLogic, they had DSL Reports blocked on the firewall because they didn't want employees leaving messages on the boards. Nice eh?)

Re: Bellsouth Tech Support...

Not all BSFA tech support agents work for Client Logic. There are 3 call centers and only one is Client Logic. We honestly don't care when you tell us you golf with Duane Ackerman, we hear that a hundred times per week. I'm able to access DSL Reports with no problem at work. When we have time we actually laugh at some of the posts here. New agents will look at the database with questions and answers. When customers like you call in and have them shaking in their boots, you will forget what you are doing. We are all human and do make mistakes. As for the Westell, please call tech support before following the directions here. You will screw up. If you are having problems using the westell and logging into instant messengers and vpn's you will be transferred to a product support specialist, if not, you are welcome to request one. Please be nice because we do have the option to end calls on assholes.

BellSouth nomail service

BellSouth email down AGAIN in Atlanta! Their help desk response: "email is a value-added service offered at no charge. If email is important to you, there are other vendors that can give you reliable [email] service for a price," said Elliott Eisen, help desk supervisor. So, I'm sitting having dinner with my girlfriend when her phone rings and, of course, it's a solicitor trying to sell her BellSouth FastAccess service. She relayed the problems that I was having to the marketer...he was floored...he was still laughing when she said goodbye.

Re: BellSouth nomail service

Mail servers were down in the entire 9 state region for several days. Always have a back up plan. Call in and make sure you speak to an agent about the problem and be polite when they tell you about the outage, request a reference number at the end of the call after allowing the agent to complete their notes so you can receive credit.

Was it good for you too? ;-)

I have to add in all fairness that Bellsouth (FastAccess), support has been excellent for the past two years that I've been with them. The technicians have always been very helpful and knowledgeable and never speak in technical terms that you can't understand. However, I have not spoken to them very often, as there has been very little problem with the service.
My experience with Bellsouth/FastAccess has been limited to the "hsv.bellsouth.net", which is in Huntsville, but I'm sure the tech support is not "local".
The only way they could improve their service as far as I'm concerned would be to charge less.

Quality going down!!

I had pretty good service with BellSouth for several years. However, since the merger, I have had significant DNS problems, problems with excessive latency, problems sending mail, and a general decline in speed and QOS. When calling tech support, if I have gotten to speak to a person, it has been someone in India, who could barely speak English, and was unable to answer any technical questions -- he would only follow a script.

Definitely a decline in the overall product and service!!.

Biggest reason AT&T/Bellsouth is still charging more

I understand where most people are coming from on this subject. But most people are in the dark trying to nick-pick everything AT&T is doing. Even though Bellsouth has been bought for a year doesn't mean everything has been converted yet. The biggest reason AT&T/Bellsouth is still charging more is because they provide you more overhead speed on your downstream rate. For example with 3meg BST gives you 3550Kbps, as AT&T/SBC gives you just 3meg. That's why their 3meg runs slower than BST's. BST gives you 550Kbps overhead to give you an actual 3meg speed. And with 6meg they actually let you sync up at 8128Kbps and it really lets you surf over 6meg. So when you complain about the price, just think about that. But when they change the price, I can't promise they will change your speed. So the next time your complaining you will be complaining about your speed. Some people are never satisfied no matter what is going on.

Re: Biggest reason AT&T/Bellsouth is still charging more

I'd be plenty happy trading 550Kbps for $13 a month.

If you can't afford FastAccess DSL Xtreme 3.0 at $37.95 then you can always downgrade to FastAccess DSL Lite 768 at $19.95 and trade 2240Kbps for $18.00 a month. That would be even five more dollars that you could keep each month.

Re: Biggest reason AT&T/Bellsouth is still charging more

What flavor would you like?

I will give you this much, I think Ultra needs to move down about $7.00, Xtreme 3.0 down about $5.00, and Xtreme 6.0 stays the same at $42.95 but sync at 8192/896 with with no speed shaping.
