| Earthlink Actually, you would not be able to get 1.5MB/s with Earthlink. Your speeds can only be as fast as your local telephone provided allows (which would be verizon), even if you use another ISP. This is because the DSL has to run through Verizon's lines, and Verizon only allows up to 768/128 for DSL services.
Earthlink's site says up to 1.5MB/s, because it is possible in the right conditions (ie: with another telephone provider offering faster service) to achieve that speed.

| I love Verizon so shut up Hey, this is for the first guy in the discussion who said they were using RASPPPOE with windows XP. You need to just use the Windows XP PPPOE software which is better than the Verizon or RASPPPOE software and will free up more room for you.
Here are the steps for using the Windows software.
Start>Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections>Network Connections>Create a New Connection> Next>Connect to the Internet>Next>Setup Connection Manually>Connect using broadband that requires a user name and password>Next>Enter ISP name>Enter user name and password>Would recommend unchecking firewall>Next>Check to add Shortcut>Finish
This is the best way to make your connections

| Re: I love Verizon so shut up Actually I have all three PPPoE connections, and have found that the RASPPPoE performs slightly better. Since the WinPOET version for VOL is the same as the one in XP, I figured I would remove the VOL software and just use RASPPPoE for now.
At some point I will get my router back and use that instead.

| Authentication issue? NO SUCH AUTHENTICATION WITH YOUR ATU-C EQUIPMENT PROBABLY JUST CABLE ISSUES IN YOUR AREA; I'M ASSUMING YOUR RUNNING ON AN ATM FORMAT AND RUNNING PPPOE; WITH YOUR SYNC LIGHT GOING FROM STEADY TO FLASHING ONLY INDICATES YOUR ATU-R IS NOT TALKING TO THE CO ATU-C; ALL AUTHENTICATION ISSUES WOULD BE DONE AT YOUR ISP ROUTER/GATEWAY; | |
