| Re: Watch out A true statement. I was having cable issues and while I was on the phone with them, I asked about split billing for my internet and cable. They told me I'd pay $10.00 more for split billing OR not having their cable TV service.
I get about 1740 out of 1800 download, and 230-240 out of 256 upload speed. I have no problem with that.

RE: So far, the transition to COMCAST has been seemless (4/17/03).
Well, not totally seemless. COMCAST only supports MSOE for email. I use Outlook. Mail service since the transition announcement has been flakey and inconsistent. Works one day not the next. I'll be glad when 6/30/03 gets here and this "transition" is over with. (5/21/03) ----------------------------------------------------------- That's because in this case Comcast took over AT&T's entire cable tv network. Routers, servers ETC. Nothings changed except the name this time around. In the case of @Home to ATTBI, AT&T was not allowed to purchase @home's hardware so the change over was much more difficult. The only forseeable problem with this changeover is that ATTBI customers with an email id matching a current comcast customer will have to change their email id. BTW any POP3 compliant email client will work with Comcast email.

| Re: Seemless Switchover I'm aware that other POP3 clients work with Comcast's email servers, but it's still flaky as I said.
If you are not using MSOE when you call for "support" they want you to test using webmail. So far, webmail DOES work each time, but Outlook does not. This does not help resolve the issue, keeping in mind that I have not made any changes to my Outlook settings, and it works sometimes and not others. Add to that the fact that the error messages are not consistent either...
In E-mail account properties within Outlook, using the "Test account settings" button. I get:
Establish network connection - Completed Find outgoing mail server (SMTP) - Completed Find incoming mail server (POP3) - Completed Log onto incoming mail server (POP3) - Completed Send test e-mail message - Completed
And I DO receive the test message and other email. But, when I use the Send/Receive button from within Outlook, I get either:
Task '???@attbi.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800ccc0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: ?????e?'
or
Task '???@attbi.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800ccc0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: ? K' [text was edited by author 2003-06-28 13:28:06]

@attbi.com
| Re: Seemless Switchover I just had the same 0x800CCC0F error on Outlook and was able to diagnose it.
I have multiple e-mail accounts on the same attbi server (now Comcast) all accessed by my one Outlook mail client, and only one of them was failing with the error. Even thought the "test e-mail account" sequence would succeed from Outlook and I could in fact continue to receive e-mail, the error was nonetheless annoying. I tried resetting, changing the account access order, and even deleting and recreating the account in Outlook to no avail. So the error was account specific, rather than with the mail server, Outlook, or the connection in general.
I then went to the www.comcast.net site and checked my e-mail account. There at the bottom of the list was an old e-mail I had not seen before (from "james@attbi.com"). Bringing it up from within my web browser showed that it actually had no body --in fact the web e-mail client reported that the e-mail was "poorly formed" and did not conform to the RFC.
Fixing the problem was easy. All I did was delete the e-mail using the web interface, and voila - no more errors.
Apparently the e-mail got into the system but was sufficiently bogus that the POP daemon was having a problem sending it. Hence the problem was actually with the POP daemon -- Outlook was just reporting the daemon failure.
Hope this helps.

Wow! Thank god for your post being picked up by Google! I too have comcast and was having this problem on 3 accounts... 1 would not pull any email at all... another was pulling all mail except items from a particular sender, but was still causing the error... It was driving me nuts!
Thanks! | |

| Thanks a MILLION! I've been annoyed by that error message for a few weeks, but was unwilling to spend too much time trying to fix it. I had gone to the Microsoft and Norton websites and tried their recommendations with no success. I saw your post and my problem was exactly as you described. You da man. | |

@covad.net | Thanks Steve (and Google for finding this post). I had the same issue (except with my ATT account) - annoying. I too deleted a bogus email using their web tool - fixed the problem !

| Thanks, this is exactly the problem with my Outlook. I went in to my email account through the web and found a message that was not read. Once I deleted it my problem was solved. | |

@attbi.com | Great advice. I was getting the same error, and being ignored by Comcast. I read your posts and fixed my problem quickly. Thanks for the help!
