That's not the equipment cost. I went back to the Web form generated when I placed the order:
$99 for Equipment $99 One-time activation fee $49.95 First month service charge
Comes to $247.95. I'm sure the shipping for the equipment rounded out the total.
Happy now? | |

Virtually all normal ISP's waive the modem and activation fee.
Oh, well, it's only money. | |

Yep. _MY_ money. I'll gladly pay extra for service the way _I_ want it, rather than get the cheapest then whine about it. Verizon Online DSL fits the cheap free equipment model but the QOS leaves a lot to be desired. Now if _you_ were paying my bills for access maybe I'd be thinking differently about it... natch.
So far, the service is fast, solid, and I'm running as many as five Macs(one a personal server) and a Win2K laptop via Linksys BEFSR81 and D-Link DI-614+ router switches.
If there is a problem, they are close enough to visit personally.
Happy here... | |
