I dunno if the salesperson made a mistake or not quoting the price to you, but this definitely a text book case of Bait and Switch.

It's scary to think that these kinds of companies operate and pray on unsuspecting Internet users...Hardball sales tactics and other "hidden" charges probably rape their existing users...

Not necessarily...

If you don't qualify for SDSL/ADSL, but perhaps only for IDSL, this would cause them to come back to you and offer another service for a higher price.

I try to explain to customers in advance of this possibility, so this situation won't happen.

scammers

I gave them my credit card information to get some server space and they never gave me what I asked for, but they charged about $400 worth of other stuff that I did not authorize. They charged things like cell phones or phone cards.
