| Re: Direcway Unfair Acess Policy As I said it (the tcp-ip connection) works most of the time and it is faster than dial up for downloading. I republished my web sites today and it went faster than it used to on my 40Kbs V90 modem, not a lot but faster. If you want to upload and download huge files it isn't for you. | |

| If you can't comment on tech support, don't I'm sure your comment would be in language unsuitable for small children.
Their tech support hasn't got a clue. As for the FAP limit, that really ruins broadband period...of course, it's not their fault, since their system simply doesn't have the capacity to support non-capped bandwidth for all their users. -- "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. | Trash your DirecWay Yep, I got rid of it too. FAP ruins downloading, latency ruins gaming and even web browsing, and the connection strength was so unreliable that it could hardly be considered "always on".
That means that it has...hmm, let me count...zero qualities that classify it as true broadband. -- "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. | I think if you read through these reviews, you'll find plenty of us with stable, fast (downstream) connections. I average between 700K and 2M on mine. And there are plenty of folks with ADSL at lower downstream speeds than that. And regarding things like the FAP, the latency effect on gaming, and the upstream speeds, if you didn't do your homework on these limitations beforehand, it's your own ____ fault. Anyone who signs any kind of agreement where they're going to be committed to paying a set amount -- especially $60/month+ -- over a year without having first done enough homework to know about these things is quite simply a fool.
If you're in a rural area where you cannot get ADSL or SDSL or cable, satellite is the best option out there. And considering the investments required and the relatively small market for the service -- compared to the metropolitan markets for DSL and cable -- the amount of the subscription isn't that bad. I can tell you because I had ISDN for years ($83/month for about 115K), and I carefully and seriously considered fractional T1 (and full T1) before deciding on satellite. But if you're in a metropolitan area where you can get ADSL or SDSL or cable, and you still go satellite ... well, then, some village is missing its idiot. -- DW SRS/4.0.3.9/DAK403_P8/G4R. HAHAHAHA! you are full of BS! I have seen about 2-3 good reviews out of all the reviews i have seen. That is pretty sad. I see very little bad reviews for my dsl company and from experience their tech support is much better that direcways. Oh yeah and about better speeds than adsl, HAHAHAHA! If you compared average speeds for dsl to direcway's speeds, it would be no comparason whatsoever. oh yeah and these kinds of companies do not tell you about the limitations, actual speeds, fap bad latency and all the other crap that might make you not buy their service because once they have you in a contract they could care less of what they provide you with. from seeing some of the S*** that direcway has told a lot of their customers i am suprised that they can still make money and stay in buisness. | |
