| DS: Designs still down and doesnt answer the phone I've been down now for three days. DSL designs doesn't answer the phone. Their answering machine claims they are having problems with Verizon. Verizon claims the problems are in DSL Designs Court. DSL Designs sales department claims they are closed at 11am. The DSL designs mail servers don't respond from the internet anymore. Very Very fishy.
I think its time to give DSL Designs the heave ho...

| DSLDesigns Changes NAME to NODSLever! It's Thursday, according to DSLDesigns, Verizon unplugged a bunch of subscribers for no reason. Service has been down since monday (4/14/03). They are in court now telling Verizon to get service back up. Who do I believe?? Based on past experiences and non-existance of tech support. I think Verizon.
I called Verizon, they don't have the answer and that I need to call my State Regulatory Agency - yeah I have time for that! The guy(verizon) did say more than likely it was something DSLDesigns didn't do to meet Verizons requests. Hmmm - pay their bill? Any way, I'm done. Not too many options out there for Los Gatos area users, and probably at least a month of no service.
If you can stay away - far away, run if you can - go to the hilltops even!! Tahoe is a good choice.
We'll see if they "win" this court battle - still not a good sign.

| Re: DSLDesigns Changes NAME to NODSLever! DSL Designs claims that the court ordered Verizon to reconnect service to their customers. Still sounds very fishy. I suspect that DSL Designs owes Verizon a pile of money. It would be nice if DSL Designs were more forthcoming about this situation. | |

| Well they "supposedly" won their case against verizon, but it's still fishy. I've been begging for information, not one reply or phone call returned. I even sent an e-mail (from work) asking for a dial up account (per the tech support phone message) - no reply there either.
My service came back up yesterday - 18 hrs ahead of what they said. Faster than it has ever been for me. Who knows, but I'm probably moving on to another ISP that has a more stable financial future (assuming this is the issue.)
Support still sucks, long and short, when there is an issue - it's usually big and there is no forum for discussion with them. When there are zero issues (90%) of the time, the service is reliable.

| I had been a DSL Designs customer for at least the last three years, since before Verizon took over GTE. Back then, DSL Designs was the ONLY ISP available for my area (up in the Santa Cruz mountains, but still technically Los Gatos).
As of Thursday of this past week, I have cancelled my account with DSL Designs and am in the process of switching over to Speakeasy »www.speakeasy.net. DSL Designs support has always been horrible. But there service was usually reliable, with a few notable and notorious exceptions. However, this last snafu with Verizon pushed me over the edge and I decided it was time for a change. I'd heard good things about Speakeasy and definitely did not want to go with one of the telco providers, like Verizon themselves.
So, I contacted Speakeasy and they were really on top of things. Got me set up with a dial-up account within minutes. Confirmed my service and started the ball rolling. And their web site is excellent. I can literally get up-to-the-minute updates of what is happening with my installation process. As of now, they will be going to my central station this coming Monday to set up the line for my service. I should be up by the end of this coming week, if not sooner. Their web site also lets you know how long the hold time is if you call their support line.
Even if Speakeasy's service goes down occasionally, it can't be worse than DSL Design's track record. And their support, from what I have heard from friends, is excellent. Although I have no proof, I am pretty sure that DSL Designs problems with Verizon were probably that DSL Designs has not been paying their bill. Which really pisses me off because I have ALWAYS paid my DSL Designs bill in full and on time. I don't expect DSL Designs to stay in business for much longer.

| Re: DSLDesigns Changes NAME to NODSLever! I could not get through on the phone either. So, through a different internet connection I emailed them last Tuesday at sales@dsldesigns.com, billing@dsldesigns.com and support@dsldesigns.com. The next day I received a response directly from Neil Ridlinghafer . The CEO I think? Anyway, in his response he mentioned the emergency court hearing they were scheduled to have the next day and also said that I could cancel my service if I wished. By that time, late Wednesday, I had already given up on DSL Designs and had started the process of signing up with Speakeasy. On Thursday, I sent another email to all of the above email addresses officially canceling my service, mentioning that I had been unable to get through on the phone. Although I have received no response from them, I assume they must have done it since my DSL connection has remained offline. | |

| At least cancelling was quick and easy I sent a note last night to sales@dsldesigns.com and billing@dsldesigns.com asking to cancel at the end of the month; I got a response from Neil Ridlinghafer first thing this morning giving me the Verizon cancellation order number and promising me a zero-balance final bill. -- David | |

This Dsl Company is the worst one you could ever encounter. This company never paid verizon and thats why verizon shut them down.

@dslextreme.com | Re: stay away from this company. Their the worst. amen brother, they are the worst. SBC cut them off for non payment and now Verizon is doing the same. They skipped out of California and are now 'running' their business out of Arizona.
