DSL Express responds to Renagade

Looking at our 11 reviews, all are very positive except for the single review by Renagade. Although Renagade was very happy with our service and the performance of his DSL, he was not happy with our residential activation charge and felt we were taking advantage of the situation. To this I must respond:

It appears that Renagade had his telephone service turned off for a period of time (the reason is not important). When a customer's POT's line is disconnected within the first year of service we (the NSP) are charged an early terminating fee. When we reconnect a line, we are charged an activation fee (both charges are per BellSouth's FCC Tariff #1). The profit margin for residential customer's is so low, that we felt we must pass these charges on to the residential customer.

As we are focused on customer service, reliability and super high-performance of our circuits (guaranteed speeds) we have decided with the introduction of the DSLXtreme 3Mbps service, to stop accepting new residential customers and fully focus on our business customers.

Business customers receive free activation and free equipment (DSL Modem/Router). Yes, there is a one year contract with an early termination charge.

Business customers understand that it takes us several months to just break even on the activation and equipment costs, so there does not seem to be an issue with the contract.

This is going to be my last reply to this thread. I felt that this was worth mentioning. I have called dslexpress's customer service about this problem and got reemed for writing this review. They forced me to cancell my credit card account so no further charges would be added to my bill. They also would not refund me part of the last month they charged me for that I could never use. Customer service is not their specialty.
