hmm the distance may be wrong

I had DSL reports state my distance at 15k and Verizon stated it at 18K. To this day I don't know which one is more accurate. Hope the smaller number is for you so you can get the higher speed.

Ask them for a speed increase

I've been in the same situation as yours. I had had Verizon DSL for 2 1/2 years when they started offering the speed increase of 1.5Mbits/sec. However, they didn't upgrade my account automatically. I sent them an e-mail requesting the upgrade package, and I got it in less than 7 days!!! According to your estimated distance, you should be able to get this because the maximum length you can be away from the CO in order to qualify is approximately 16,000 ft really. Besides, your next door neighbor has it, which is the clearest proof that you are within range. Unless, of course, the wiring to your house is routed so as to make it appear like it follows a longer path.

It's $39.99 with voice service, or $42.99 stand-alone. Both options require you to sign up for at least a year to get those prices.
