10ms Ping?!?!?!? Must be nice!

You're lucky to get pings like that!! I regularly only get pings to SRTT of around 65-75 first hop. It used to be around 30 ms all the time but went to hell when Vitts went out of business and SRTT changed to Sprint lines.
Speed has increased in the last few days as I regularly test at 634/162. Unfortunately pings took yet another hit and are now a good 15-20 ms higher than last week. I can't hardly find a MOHAA server that stays under 140.
You're right on as far as communication goes too. I've sent two e-mails in the last couple weeks which were both ignored. Ponder this...their new residential DSL brochure says it's "20 to 40 times faster than dial-up" but by my math I'm only seeing about 13x faster. It also states that it is "as fast or faster than competitive offerings".Hmmmm......

Re: 10ms Ping?!?!?!? Must be nice!

Nice review by o7levi. I agree most strongly with his opinion that $45 is too steep for what we are getting. I'm stuck with SRTT for another six months unless I want to pay the $99 setup fee (which I'm considering). I strongly agree with your comments that we are not getting what has been advertised. Adelphia is an option where I am so I'm off to read some reviews of them...

Thanks for the comments guys.

Badcop, if you have the time, go ahead and post your own review of the experience you've had so far. Sacoriver's really not on the map, I can't say how many times I've done dsl searches for my area and nothing comes up. Hopefully after a couple more reviews, one of us can forward the dslreports link to SRTT to give their staff a better impression of what their customers are feeling towards the service, and in turn offer them the option to better meet the needs of their customers.

Re: 10ms Ping?!?!?!? Must be nice!

Just a quick note.....SRTT has seen fit to mess with things yet again and has my modem syncing at 500k as opposed to the 1 meg I was syncing at. Now speeds have gone from a steady 640/164 down to 588/136. I know it's not a huge difference but when the service is already over priced....

Adephia in Buxton

I just signed up for it, and so far am happy. Not a big online gamer, so I haven't tested many ping times. My download speeds are around 3mbs though. MUCH faster than the sacoriver DSL. I was with them from the early beta days too. It got to be too much money for the 512k DSL though.

Re: Adephia in Buxton

I should have it (Power Link) up and running on the 8th so we'll see how it goes. SacoRiver is just too pricey now and coupled with no support it's just not worth it. Sad thing is that if they would simply either go up to 1500/256 or drop the price to a more reasonable level I'd be happy and would stick with them. No contract with Adelphia so I can always bail if it's no good.

In response to thanking Sacoriver.net for the notice about the Blaster worm. While unreported outages cause the end user a problem, they do not cause the ISP an heartache because they of course are aware of it. However the Blaster worm caused many ISPs trouble due to the additional traffic, so it was in their best interest to notify us. I have noticed that lately we are getting outage emails. Now we just need some speed!!

Sacoriver woes again.....

Hey 07Levi....Adelphia has been quite good for me. I continually see speeds in the 2650/238 range out of an offered 3000/256. I can't complain on downtime either as the only outages I've seen have been in their maintainance window in the early am (4:30ish). Give em' a go. I bet you can get a good deal as well. I'm still at $34.95 for the rest of the year. Has Chris stopped responding to you too? No surprise there. I think they have oversold their service yet again and he' simply tired of dealing with the complaints. Just an assumption though.
