uh . . .yeh . . .I too do not like how Cox chops off the newsgroups ,making a thread hard to follow. I now also use the news server freenews.netfront.net for unadulterated news groups!
My download speeds are fast even though there are at least three apartments in my eight-unit complex with Cox HSI and many, many more on my node. I use Cox on both of my computers here at home with a Linksys router.

| I'm surprised that Jammy didn't mention that Cox's news sewrvers will feed you four threads per each of three servers. Using a multi-thread news reader you can max out your 3 mbps pipe and even exceed it.
The USENET download speeds I get from the Cox servers far exceeds anything I ever got from Easynews, although I do like the graphical interface that EasyNews provides.

| Re: Yay and Nay! Hey Dave . . .I very rarely use the Cox news server as I rarely read the Cox newsgroups any longer. I might lurk every week or so for 15 or 20 minutes. I now use freenews.netfront.net to read news through my Outlook Express.
YES >>> my Outlook Express Dave! So . . .how have ya been Dave?

| Re: Yay and Nay! Yeah I use OE to read text newsgroups too. With it set to text only I don't see much in the line of a security risk.
I'm well, doing QA work for a call center contracted by Comcast. YUK!!

No, most computer problems are caused by the PEBCAK virus. (Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard) Either that or you are experiencing a ID10T error. | |
