| Customer Service BS How to get around this? When you call customer service be as specific as possible. When they think you know more than them, they really are helpful. If you still cant get satisfaction, request a level 2 tech. I have a Westell (just over 1 year now) and it works fine, so dont worry. Will they give it to you for free? I still dont understand why they wont allow a hub, but will allow a router. | |

A hub will split the signal and each machine or eithernet device will recive an Verizon IP address assigned from Verizons dhcp server. Routers may look the same sometimes but are different. They have the own built in dhcp server that assigns internal network ip 192.168.x.x while only one verizon ip is being use which is for the router it self. I have talked way above there heads and gotten no where Level 2 techs who say they will call me back and never do.
Also those little white pos westells blow up every 3 months like clockwork with two nieghbors close bye. I am just going to pick up another fujistu off the net. | |

| Re: Customer Service BS The Fujitsu is a frame relay, the Westell is an DMT encoding ATM modem. VZ's ATM network uses PPPoE, the old GTE network uses DHCP. If VZ reprovisions your line for ATM, the Fujitsu won't do much for you. I've had my Westell 2100 POS online for well over a year now, not one glitch from it. It might be a dumb bridge, but it's as reliable as anything I have ever seen. Yes, I have a line conditioner on the AC for the wall wart  If you're blowing modem after modem, check to see if your AC line voltage is going way high, or if you're getting whacked by lightning on the AC and the phone line. | |
