| I agree with your assessmentof Cox HSI! Yes, Cox is darned fast and very available here in San Diego, CA. The only outages I have experienced since the transition from @Home are occasional and at night (when most folks are asleep I guess, lol).
Yes . . .the Tier I reps just read off of printed matter posted on the sides of their cubicles for most part, but a "rare" few are knowledgeable. Tier II techs can be hard to contact especially if you get a hold of a cocky Tier I rep who want to be "know-it-alls". It is best to learn the ropes of how your cable service works yourself and make sure that you NEVER have to call Cox for assistance!
Yeh . . .no servers allowed, but I do run my own Seti Q.
I am no longer bothered by spam from Cox since installing Spam Pal a few months back. Also changing all of my email account names to alphanumeric ones.
Speed-wise, yesterday Speakeasy gave me a 4224/244 (must have been a glitch, lol) because Megapath gave me a 2919/242 which is closer to my real speeds (which BTW are usually around 3000 to 3100 down).
I too have referred a few friends to Cox HSI yet I have never received the referral fee to date from Cox or the one months free service for referrals.
