You're the perfect person to seek for advice

If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you to advise me on a choice between two ISP's with which you're apparently familiar. I'm having a terrible time w/the decision because it's an apples/oranges one.

I've been with an ISP called I-2000 for eleven years. I stuck with them because they gave me the kind of responsive, personalized service that bway.net is also known for. They charged a lot and gave little, but I live or die by e-mail (I'm a journalist)and so I was just grateful to have essentially zero downtime.

Recently I-2000 was bought out by Transbeam, and the culture has changed there. My 11 years of loyalty mean nothing, as none of the "old-timers" remain. So I'm shopping for a new ISP.

My decision is between bway.net, which is right down the street from me (fantastic), and Speakeasy. The problem is that bway.net will save me nothing over my current situation, but will more or less double my access speed in both directions, and increase my web space by 30%.

Speakeasy, OTOH, will cost me at least 25% less than what I'm paying now, double my access speed and give me as much as 7-10x more server space.

So the decision is between saving money and theoretically getting MUCH more "stuff", or paying the same or even a few bucks more and getting bway.net's "legendary" personal, knowledgeable service.

Your most recent experience with Speakeasy appears to be more than a year ago, but would you be willing to venture an opinion on this?

Feel free to write directly if you prefer.

Whether you reply or not, thanks for reading. DGI
