rip off

if your only getting the speed you claim---get juno speedband--it's 14.95 a month and runs faster than your current providers speed. i don't know how to tell you man---but your getting ripped off

Hope for SBC

Maybe your ISP provides you with a Private IP address so you wouldn't be able to upload via BitTorrent?

Is your CO not already wired for DSL? »/coinfo/clli/ABRYTXGI

25-Mar-04 - Southwestern Bell(2)

We had a similar situation until Verizon DSL showed up in Argyle. »www.partnershipwireless.com offered a hefty install price, slower speeds and less reliability.

Now we pay $29.95 a month for 1.5Mbps/384Kbps that hardly ever drops from advertised speeds and pings in the 20ms range.

Best of luck.

Re: Hope for SBC

RedMoon provides a static internet addressable IP.

The CO you referenced is too far away for me and probably for him also, but there is an RT in the area that they are getting ready to light up

I used to have SBC DSL when I lived in Little Elm so I find it odd that it seemingly doesnt even exist on that map and I'm way closer to Little Elm than Aubrey. I wonder just how accurate it is.

Is RedMoon working better for you now?

Has your RedMoon situation changed or are you still having issues? I'm using BitTorrent on RedMoon with no problems. I usually have to throttle back my uploads or I will completely saturate my connection (85kB/sec up/down) and then I can't surf the web on other computers.

rtaggi: He said his speed is 80kB and then drops to 30-40kB/sec ... note the big 'B', he's not talking about kb. 30-40kB/sec is about 250-350kb. You still think your budget dialup is faster? BTW, 56kb is about 6kB ... I'll take the 'rip-off' service any day

Still no luck with bittorrent and I've tried nearly every client.
