About Tier 1 support

Tier 1 support ONLY provides basic trouble shooting such as cable modem hooked up right and getting a signal.

Its Tier 2 Support out of Canada or Tier 3 to fix the service if Tier 1 can not fix it.

You are told that when you sign up. Always ask for Tier 2.

And i know this because i have RoadRunner from Time Warner Cable Western Ohio. Its the same for us. and Tier 2 is ALL out of Canada for all 39+ coverage areas that RoadRunner provides.

Re: About Tier 1 support

thanks for the info, i pretty much figured it out by trial and error. as far as being told that when i signed up, they must have forgotten to mention it. no one ever told me whether it be through a verbal or written communication (i still have all of the paperwork they gave me when the service was installed). fortunately i haven't had any reason to call on tech support since the earlier hiccups were worked out. it's been about 2 years now and not a single problem. now if they could just work on the price and maybe offer a higher (faster) level of service. i'd be willing to pay $50/mo or so for a faster upload if anyone at insight is listening.

Re: About Tier 1 support

actually you can get the same service for $40 per month if you sign up with Digital Pic 2000 with DVR. At least in the WOH coverage area. I believe its a nationwide promotion though.. And TWC has said before they are trying new speeds out in different areas working to bring the speed up to 6MB down and 1.5MB upload. I know the New York City area was trying it. Also if you sign up for their digital telephone services your modem will be changed as well to one that has the adaptor installed with the modem they're made by MOT.com

I don't have any experience with the Columbus area though but it seems like each coverage area works the same as the others. But they pic what they want to offer and what they don't.

Re: About Tier 1 support

i haven't checked, but i do know the more you have with insight (cable tv, roadrunner, or at&t digital phone service) the more they discount. but i don't need a dvr, i don't want the digital cable service (if i like a movie i buy the dvd when it comes out so there's no need for the premium channels, i never watched them when i had them) and i don't need a new phone line. all i want is the high-speed internet and whatever i can get just by plugging the cable to my television. in my case it doesn't make financial sense. to get a $10 discount on the $54.95 internet service i have to purchase the $24.95 cable tv service. simply put my bill is $15 more than what it was when i purchased the internet service alone. and as i mentioned before, that's no longer comparable since i could get an identical service (cable and internet) for $50 if i lived just 4 miles away. i guess you can chalk it up to location since where i live insight has no competition.

p.s. - i called insight just this past thursday to see if they knew of any future pricing or service changes and i was told there were none planned for the near future.

Re: About Tier 1 support

Are you on the Insight or Time Warner? They are TWO different companies. The only thing Time Warner provides them is access to RoadRunner so they do not have to provide their own network. Insight is just a reseller of RoadRunner or a Partner.

TWC is the one that gives the discounts and always running promotions. And ALL TWC areas in Ohio run the same promotions and pricing.

Re: About Tier 1 support

That could why rates are high...they resell cable service from other companies such as Time Warner and RoadRunner. the same as the former Media One/AT&T Broadband/Cable TV

speed

i have rr in fl at 10000/1000 and i was having speed problems a while back. im not sure if your on a router in your house, but if you are run the cat5 from the modem to your pc and then do a speed test. see if the speed goes up. i found out it was my linksys router making my speed to go way down.
