Way to go Broadvoice

You forgot to mention the BYOD feature. This saved me over 30.00 $ at signup, plus no shipping charges, and I was up and running in 10 minutes as soon as I could program the settings into my Grandstream. It works like a charm. The service is very impressive.

Very true. Thanks. This is an great feature for those with their own device and BroadVoice is the only provider to offer this option. Seems like they've got BYOD provisioning down to a science and they provide all the necessary settings making installation a breeze, just as you describe.

Broadvoice major problems

I don't know about the "problem resolution", but in the past 10 days, I've had 8 days of non-working Broadvoice service, including the past 5 days in a row. When I do get lucky enough to talk to support (I called 5 times, 3 times I was either hung up on or their number and website were both down), they would answer within 20 minutes but say there's an outage and no resolution. Now I know you get what you pay for, but it would seem to me that after 10 days, you would at least know what the problem is and have it corrected. If I let a major problem go unaddressed after 10 days, I'd be fired! I've had to go over my cell phone minutes since it's the only other phone I can use, so my good value voip has turned into something costing me more than SBC was cheating me out of. I certainly hope that they fix the problem, but if I was choosing a voip right now, I'd think twice before going this direction.

With all this being said, I've had the service since January 2005 and have only experienced 1 outage day before the recent major problems, and when they're working, they're the best in voip.

Re: Broadvoice major problems

My outage continued through mid-day Monday at which time I cancelled the service. Enough was enough.

@comcast.net
I finally have service back on Wednesday, but International Calls to Europe still don't work.

Before the current outage I have only had a few minor problems since I signed up in December.

@rr.com
I have all sorts of problems. Service works for few minutes and down again. I can't make local or international calls. It gives the dial tone, though.

PLEASE HELP

nice try

if only Broadvoice would spend as much on customer service as they did in here - you wouldn't know anything about that huh...

Re: nice try

I called Broadvoice today to get new service, waited for 45 minutes to talk to someone [I have vonage right now]. The guy on the other line was a complete Ahole. I was asking basic questions about if the sipura 3000 or the 2100 will work behind my linksys router and about number Portability. He acted as if I just had insulted his mother! [he lied, he said it can be done, if you check www.voixilla.com they'll tell you broadvoice does not port numbers]!!!
I was very polite and nice throughout the conversation, he was not. I need the ability to have my wife call several countries in Europe and in SA since I travel for a living but I'll keep on paying the extra $15 on Int'l charges to vonage and wait to see what happens with broadvoice. Thank God for this forum, you guys/gals have helped me decide to stay with Vonage for right now. I hope Vonage gets on with the Int'l calling plans because I'm very satisfied with their service. I'm in Kentucky and I have NEVER in 6 months had an outage problem. The guys in India are helpful and quick to solve any questions I’ve had.

Are you working in BV?

Why you graded them:

Web-site: 100%
Ease of Installation: 100%
Call Quality: 100%
Reliability: 100%
Tech Support: 100%
Value for money: 100% ??????

and you said "Considering service was rock solid for
many" ???

All I got was unhappy experience only:
Very bad CS service,
Not admitting their fault.
Strongly suggest leaving this VOIP provider
Or at least to request for a refund

They said fixed, but.....
The service for my VOIP is still down TODAY,
I can't call long distance and receive calls
Nothing got fixed but they still send me the bill.
Here is their response by email:

You sound like the PR for Broadvoice... :)

I signed up for Broadvoice last Friday, Unlimited World plan. I made the switch over from Vonage for the unlimited international calling. Did you know that Vonage charged $43 for disconnection? I didn't. Guess I'll make that back with the money I saved with Broadvoice. Also, Broadvoice will waive disconnect fee if I decide to go with another carrier because I have the BYOD plan.

Other than being disconnected twice on a local call, everything been great. Made a call to France and talked over 100 minutes without a hitch. I will post updates when I have more to say...

Satisfied Broadvoice User

I have had great service from BV similar to the review. We also have Vonage and have had great service from them. Neither has experienced a service outage or poor call quality.

In the area of customer service, neither has screwed up the billing, but when it comes to customer support, so far BV has had very short to no hold times and the rep's had the tech knowledge to help. I know it's subjective, but I did not get the impression BV had moved CS offshore.

There is one big limitation on BV which is faxing. They don't support it.

Not a BroadVoice employee :)

Well, I haven't read the review comments in the last few years, as is clear by my lack of responses. Just wanted to add I am not a BroadVoice employee. One commenter incorrectly states I gave BV 100% in all categories--that has never been the case. They get high rankings but only 4/5 in 2 areas.

As for the service issues, I addressed the one major outage and a couple of minor ones in my updates. It is also important to remember that quality of service may vary based on location and each user's Internet connection. My ISP happens to be very reliable and my east coast BroadVoice proxy server has also been reliable. Initially, there were some issues with the Los Angeles-area proxy server (which didn't affect me but did one of my friends) but this was resolved a couple of years back.

Anyhow, sorry for the lack of replies and feel free to conjecture what you may but I assure you I am only posting a positive review because my experience has been positive.
